AP = administrative processing, how long?

Hey, guys!
Me and my fiance ran into the administrative processing stage (he is a computer science major and worked as a computer science guy). Consular officer asked him for his resume, so my fiance emailed it to him on the 16th of June. On the 16th of June embassy wrote an email saying that they've received documents.

I'm wondering if anyone else was or is at AP stage from Russia? If someone was at the AP stage, then for how long was the AP stage for? Because I didn't see any threads from people in Russia (a lot) regarding this stage.

Oh, and the CO asked for my bf's passport. So, I'm really hoping that this AP stage wouldn't take a long time since my fiance's passport is at the embassy but I'm scared because some people (from other countries) have been waiting for months and they did not hear anything regarding their case...

No one can tell you how long AP will last. It could be a few days, weeks, months or a year or more. It takes how long it takes and no one can tell you when it will end.

If everything is fine and it sounds like it might be since they asked for his passport than normallly about a week but with not being able to prints visas, it could be ap until the printing issue is resolved.

Well, I figured that out. In my post, however, I asked if anyone had it in Russia or Ukraine and if they did - for how long. :) I totally understand that it varies and stuff, and that's not what I originally asked :)

Well, reading over couple of more forums, I'm prepared for a month of wait. Hopefully it'll be resolved then :)

Thank you for your reply. :)

We were in AP at NVC for almost 8 weeks. We're now working with Kyiv, DS-160, paying fees, gathering paperwork, and should setup her interview soon. I am guessing, but I think there could be some delays because of the printing problem at embassy/consulate. Go to Dept of State, Kyiv to read about the situation there.

2/14/2015 Sent I-129f package to TX lockbox. Happy Valentine's Day!

2/26/2015 NOA1 received, dated 2/19/2015

3/24/15 NOA2 received, dated 3/19/15

early April(approximate): at NVC ..delay?

4/08/15 Case created. Got case #,

5/16/15 NVC status: 'In Transit'

5/18/15 visa status: 'Ready' for interview

7/3/15 setup medical and visa interview appointments for

7/22/15 and 7/27/15 via Kyiv's 'call center'

7/27/15 visas approved!! ...but pending medical tests for 6 year-old

9/21/15 visa package received, and medical resolved!

Everyone has AP, all along the process. Usually it is about one week.

Because I didn't see any threads from people in Russia (a lot) regarding this stage.

Because you are not looking at the RUB regional forum.

Oh, and the CO asked for my bf's passport.

Good sign.

So, I'm really hoping that this AP stage wouldn't take a long time since my fiance's passport is at the embassy but I'm scared because some people (from other countries) have been waiting for months and they did not hear anything regarding their case...

Isn't that's the RU regional forum? If there is anotherforum, not visa journey, can you send me a link to it, please? :) Because the only thread I've seen regarding AP was in 2007 (used search) before creating this thread.

And apparently not everyone had AP. or has AP, that's what I've noticed.

Don't worry (right now) all is normal. We were in AP for 3 to 5 days. My wife received her visas/passports in hand before the online status changed to delivered/sent. This all happed last April.

As far as the printing issue.. that is the unknown part. Continue to Skype and support each other. It will all be worth it soon.

On Monday it will be 2 weeks (ok, on Tuesday since Monday is a holiday or its Friday, I forgot). And the status is still changing every day. I mean "Status Update Date"

But thank you for your reply! :)

Hello All,

Today after my fiance's tried to schedule her interview, but the Moscow embassy portal said our case was not ready for interview. And this is 2 weeks after reading that our case was" Ready to Schedule Interview".

I paid the DS-160 fee online this week and now the status reads" Administrative Processing". Why in the world would they take our money for the DS-160 fee, tell us to schedule interview, just to change status to "AP"? I am thinking this is just an excuse for we are on break or we are just lazy? lol

The lady told my fiance' that I would recieve a letter,(never heard that before) then, she could schedule the interview. Is this the proper way that this goes in Moscow?

Needless to say, My fiance'is flying from her city to Moscow on Tuesday of next week to do her medical and then wait for the interview. If they delay this past 2 weeks, then we will have to fly back to her city and I will not be a happy camper, lol.

Anybody else have this happen? or have an explanation? Thanks to any that can help answer.

Hello!

In my case, we've paid for an interview and had to wait too. But they did not receive any documents at all while the status at ceac said that documents were ready. Later, we actually did receive the letter from the embassy, it was actually an email and we could schedule an interview then.

Good luck!

Btw, my AP was about 3-4 weeks long, in case anyone will need it!

Thank you very much for answering my question ambrolla. That sounds exactly like what is happening to us. The Ceac online notice clearly stated "Case was ready and at the Embassy...schedule interview". Then after we paid the DS-160 fee, ah not so fast. Then the dreaded "AP" excuse appeared on the Ceac online pop up. Oh well, I am hoping my fiance' will not have to wait more than two weeks with her relatives. If longer, we will rent an apartment and just wait it out, lol.

Good luck to you also!
