I am a Indian guy and my girlfriend is American(Caucasian).I have worked in USA on a cruise ship for 9 years and left the job 7 months ago.I met my girlfriend online 5 years ago and we talked online until i visited her 2 years ago.I visited her for 4 days and met her mom only as her dad didn't accept our relationship then after one year visited her for 20 days on a tourist visa, directly from the ship. She visited India after that for 10 days and met my family but we never did any formal engagement ceremony.Neither did I give her an engagement ring. She applied for a K 1 visa in December 2014 and we are still waiting for NOA2.I have read on several forums that the new delhi consulate specifically asks for the proof of engagement. We have planned to marry in a courtroom without a big ceremony and will actually have a ceremony after one year. Now i really don't know what to tell the consulate officer in case he asks me for the proof of engagement or the wedding plans.PLEASE GUIDE ME IN THIS REGARD.I WILL GREATLY APPRECIATE YOU PEOPLE AND YOUR GUIDANCE.THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Hey pglover, this was send to me, maybe it will help you too

Hi Jackie,

I'm new to the process also, so you might want to post your question over in the K-1 visa process board of the forums: http://www.visajourn...ess-procedures/ Someone more knowledgeable might see it there.

That said, my own experience leaves me to believe that the NOA1 notices are sent out only by the Service Center that ultimately will process your packet, not the lockbox facility that it's initially mailed to. For instance, my packet was sent to the Texas Lockbox, but it was then relayed to the California Service Center, which appears to have sent me the notice only after they entered it into their computer system. It may be that your packet was delayed getting to the Service Center or your Service Center is behind on entering them into the system. It looks like you only have a few days left on that 30 days, so you may have to wait that last few days and then call again. If you do call again, I'd also ask if they can tell you what Service Center your petition was assigned to.

I'd also encourage you to go ahead and create a Timeline at the Immigration Timelines link on the menu above, because VisaJourney uses the timelines to calculate how long things are taking and your experience of such a long wait for a reply may help them identify delays at facilities for other users too. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline
