I see in the guide they will want Luz's annullment. The embassy got her original. Will that be returned with her visa or will she need to get a new copy?

I would if I were you Gary, I would try to get certified copies of it. I dont think they will return it. My step son when he went thru Manila, They wanted a original Birth Certif. My wife had it at the Hong Kong Consoluated. we had to get a copy of it in Macau then have it translated.

So better be safe and make sure you get it so you wont get delay anymore then you need to be.

Gary, I'm so happy for you and Luz! Your timelines during those hellish IMBRA months were definitely helpful and I don't think I ever thanked you for that.

Like others have said, it's a pretty simple process. What I did to make everything easier was practice filling out all the forms and gathered all the evidence I could while I was still in Canada waiting for my interview, then when I got to the US I only had to transfer my practice forms to the e-form and I was good to go. I also had my husband get the I-864 ready before I got there, so it was ready too. We had a quick civil ceremony a couple days after I arrived and put the application in the mail the very same day. When you get married, make sure you can get a copy of your marriage certificate right away. Best of luck on the rest of your journey

Gary, when Lucy gets another certified copy of her annulment decree, have her make sure that it comes with a Decree of Finality. Although this is not required during the AOS, I found that I needed it when I applied for a new passport (under my married name) at the Philippine Embassy (in Washington D.C.).

One thing you might want to find out - the original annulment document may be inside the brown envelope that Luz will turn over to immigration when she arrives in the States. You may want to check with the Embassy to see if they do have it or if they have placed it in the file of all of her K-1 documentation she is bringing with her in the brown envelope. Definitely get copies, if you can, however, as you may need to have them later for other purposes as well. Luz should probably try and get photocopies of all of her and Robin's relevent medical histories from her family physician if she has one - she can then give a copy to her new physician in the US and he will be up to date on their medical history. If she has any type of medical insurance coverage now, get a copy of proof of insurance - it may be required to get her on your own medical insurance in the States, especially if she or Robin has any sort of pre-existing condition. Does she drive? Perhaps a copy of her driving record in case she needs it to obtain her driver's license or insurance in the US - each State has different requirements. Make sure she has all of the information she might need for the 2007 income tax year next year if she has been working this year in case you need it. Definitely bring documents related to educational records, personal records, things like that for both her and Robin.

That's what I was gonna suggest! Have original or certified copies of all the relavent documents Luz has available in PI. And I recommend getting at least 2 of all of them.
