Getting a new Drivers License while waiting for removal of conditions.

I've filed for the removal of conditions from my green card (marriage based) in February 2015. My green card expired in April and I'm trying to get a new drivers license by presenting my I-797 Notice of Action (aka extension letter).

I've made 2 trips to two different local DMVs (Chicago, Illinois) and in both cases I've been turned away. The first location did not even want to look at my documents and the second said I need I-797A not I-797. Not sure what to make out of this. My drivers license expires in three weeks and I would like to get a new one.

Any advice ?

You can try this... http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/TVDL/home.html

You can also do an infopass and get an i-551 stamp in your passport which they should accept.

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Jamaica
Timeline

The DMV In Chicago are very difficult. Even when you take all the required documents they will tell you to come back with Your green card or 797a. What I hated most when I tried to get a stated ID was that my visa must be valid for 6 months or more, which we all know k-1 issue for 90 days. I hope you find a office that will allow you to renew your license.
