I'm sorry to hear you have to have this operation. But like you said you do have 2 beautiful children that you can be thankful for. I had a hysterectomy 7yrs ago. The pain i was in was unbearable and i was so sick that the surgery was the only option. I was sore after, but the pain i had previous was gone. I too was sad i wouldnt be able to have kids, as i have none at all, but thats perfectly normal to feel that way. The surgery went well and 3 weeks after i was on a plane to holiday in Texas. You do have to becareful lifting ect, and when they tell you dont vacuum, dont vacuum!!!!!!! I learned the hard way. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but 8 years ago today I had brain and spinal surgery from my accident. Docs gave me 50/50 chance of survival 'at best' and 75-80% chance that I'd be paralyzed from the neck down.

Hah! And here I am perfectly fine and 'normal'!!!

You can do this! It's not going to be easy, but this too shall pass. A positive attitude makes all the difference.

It's natural to be worried, but have the faith in your doctors, and in God (if you believe, which I do, if not, then disregard this part)....God will take you through this.

this always gives me strength.

I know quite a few women who've had hysterectomies because of endometriosis. The pain from surgery is quickly gone, compared to the pain you've endured from the endo!

And if the surgeon gives you a bikini cut, rather than a straight down zipper, you heal fairly fast! You could be up and walking around the next day. But if you're in pain, don't be afraid to admit it and hit the pain go away button!

My mum went through it. She is doing fine today. You're going to feel so sore after you wake but as long as they give you painkillers, just take it one day at a time. You'll get through it.

Ive had surgery before but simple surgery. Nothing major like this. I know the faster i get off the pain meds the better i will feel and i plan to do so, i have a high tolerance for pain so it wont be too bad. i appreciate all of your support and words

Relax...and dont hurry to get off the medication. Your body will heal slower if you are constantly fighting the pain.. I too had one at 36 and was devestaed. The endo caused me to be unable to concieve and carry. Follow the doctors orders and with in a week of returning home you will notice improvement. They JOY of no more painful periods and such perk me up when I get down about it.

With that said I still have a wonderful son who is my pride and joy.(My ex and I adopted him when he was 5months old). Enjoy your children that you do have and continue to be thankful for your strong relationship.

My only regret is that doctor didnt tighten up the tummy since everything was open and availble. Oh well....

Ive had 50 opinions over the past 11 years. i was even lucky to carry and deliver my second son. Im ready to have this done. and no chinese medicine can take away endometriosis, only a hysterectomy can.

anyway its 12 hours til my surgery and im not as nervous as i thought id be. i had a great day with my kids and now gonna go snuggle with my hubby. thank you guys again for your sweetness and prayers. See everyone in a week
