An ultra-conservative one-time Brooklyn city council candidate — whose campaign slogan was “Our children are our future” — has been nabbed for possessing and sharing kiddie porn, prosecutors said Friday.

Joseph Hayon, 37, was arrested Thursday and admitted to police that he traded the sick pics of kids between the ages of 2 and 12 in December 2014 using his email account ArtModel@juno.com, according to a criminal complaint.

At his arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court, prosecutors said a tip led police to search Hayon’s Midwood home, where the stash of child porn was found.

Cops confiscated Hayon’s two laptops, five desktops, video camera, Samsung cellphone and one DVD, prosecutors said.

He was also slapped with an order of protection Friday barring him from coming in contact with his four children, ages 9, 7, 4 and 15 months. He was released on $50,000 bail.

“I can’t comment, my lawyer told me not to talk,” a scruffy Hayon, clad in a yarmulke, button-down and khakis, told reporters when he was released.

When asked whether his wife, Batya, tipped cops off to his disgusting behavior, he only said, “Definitely not my wife.”

The disgraced pol has three priors, including a 2014 assault charge for closing a door on someone’s hand and driving without a license in 2013, police sources said.

Hayon, founder of the Brooklyn Tea Party, lost against Democratic incumbent David Greenfield in the 44th District council race in 2013.

On his personal website, Hayon touts his work at Jewish nonprofit Pesach Tikvah, which helps children and adults with special needs.

He also notes working as an elementary school teacher “turning failing students into A+ students, raising the academic expectations from parents, and more important, giving students self-confidence.”

I find the headline in the Post rather sensational. Does being a "Tea Party Operative" have anything to do with child pornography? I was more disturbed by the fact that he was an elementary school teacher which seems much more pertinent to the story and the charges against him however only appears in the last paragraph of the piece... Now we have yet another family values Republican (Dennis Hastert) accused of inappropriate conduct with a high school student not to mention anti-gay conservative Josh Duggar admitting to acts of pedophilia. Both guilty of hypocrisy aside from alleged criminal sexual acts against minors.

in your hypothetical, the crimes may be the same but the degree of hypocrisy is definitely not equivalent.

Besides, the issue and the news is that of a tea party type ultra-conservative whose campaign slogan was "Our children are our future." All those other stuff you bring up are red herrings to divert the topic.
