How can my fiance get health insurance after she comes here on the k-1 visa? we will get married but i can't add her to my health insurance because my work doesn't offer health care..What is the other option? can anyone help?

Do you have health insurance? By law everyone must obtain health insurance or pay a tax penalty.

The easiest way would be through the federal/state health exchange (Obamacare). Head on over to http://www.coveredca.com/individuals-and-families/special-circumstances/immigrants/ That's your state exchange. Your fiancé qualifies for special enrollment since marriage and immigration are life changing events.

Please see the link in my signature that gives you further information on the federal law, what documents to use as proof, and status.

You'll have to pay a premium just as you would have to if you decided you want to purchase private insurance. Be prepared for any sticker shock.

Is it relatively straight forward to be added to my fiancee's health insurance on a family/married couple's (if that exists) plan?

Interview Scheduled: November 5, 2020

Interview Date: December 7, 2020 - SUCCESS!

Oath Ceremony mistakenly scheduled (then descheduled!): December 8, 2020

At my place of employment, I have to present marriage license for my fiance & birth certificate for his son within 30 days of marriage. They will be added to my plan. There will be a slight increase in price but they will have dental, vision & health care
