Hi all, new here :) ive been looking around VJ for a while now for tips and finally decided to join the forum. I'm pregnant and filing for my mexican fiance and am in a bit of a hurry hoping I can get this process done before my baby is born in October so that we can both be in the USA by that time! I'm past the NOA2 so figured I'd start posting here.

Filed I29-f: 4/7

Noa1: not sure, will update.

Noa2: 5/14

Called Nvc yesterday and was told They had barely recieved it 6/14 and Got the standard answer that it will take about 4 weeks to get a case number... I'll be calling back tonight to check again!

I suppose it would depend on which country your fiancee is applying for the visa from & their specific procedures & timescales.

I would imagine that if everything is straight forward with all paperwork ready & no delays it would be achievable... I don't know the the rules on how close to birth due date you can fly so that may be a factor?

Good luck & hope it works out ?

I think I remember reading somewhere on here about that. Something about just a generic message but does not pertain to the K1 Visa. The embassy should contact you either by email or mail with further instructions for the interview and interview date. It might be different depending on the Embassy, Some may do things slightly different than others.

For my case I received an email from the Paris Embassy with a list of documents that we will need for the interview and was asked to have my fiance complete the DS-160 online. Once complete I emailed them back with the DS-2001 form. Which just basically tells them we have all our paperwork together and are ready to be interviewed. About a week after that my fiance received a letter in the mail in Portugal with the interview date assigned and instructions on who to call to set up medical exam and another list of what to bring to the medical and interview.

Seriously, did they literally just drop one of their servers on the floor, and then by accident dropped the back up servers next to it? Frankly, I'm moderately annoyed that I'm paying my government money to have systems that cannot be flipped back online in 24 hours, no matter how bad the hardware failure is. This is just poor system design, and it makes me cry to know that I'm paying for something that doesn't have a good contingency plan. Google has like 99% online policy, so do most of the private software service companies. But not the government systems.

That said, if the systems are back online next week, 2 weeks of delay I can live with. :) Also glad to see they are involving private sector's help.

So I got our case number last week, called again tonight because it still wasn't coming up on CEAC and they said it's been sent to the embassy as of the 15th. Should we email the embassy for packet three or wait for the case number to possibly start working and show that it's ready?

The embassy should contact you either by email or mail with packet 3. Have you tried the tips posted at the beginning of this thread to track the DHL shipment by reference number? Maybe if you are able to find yours there you might have a better time frame estimate when you should start hearing something about packet 3. It wouldn't hurt sending them an email or a phone call to check the status on the case. Things do move really quick at this stage, I'm hopeful that you will hear something soon.

Hello just updating on my case,

I called nvc again today to check up on things. As I posted, I called last week on the 16th and I was told they recieved the 14th but still no case number.

Well I called today right at 7am EST (began dialing at 6:59) wasn't very effective being early today because although I got in line quick it was a 20 minute wait to speak to the first person then they put me on hold another 20 to speak to the person who actually gave me my case number and invoice.. Total phone call: 41 minutes, very stressful since

I'm calling with my american phone from mexico :/ Said it had been sent to the embassy (Juarez for us) on the 19th but that they hadn't recieved it yet.

Well I checked CEAC in the morning after that call, got an error message and now just checked again and I'm getting the READY status. Very excited to be able to continue to the next step and hopefully recieve packet 3 soon!

Hi all I have what might be a dumb question, I'm just trying to get a heads up before packet 3 info... Everywhere I check what to do next I get mixed answers on which form im going to have to fill out. Many official websites say different things. Will I be needing to fill out ds-160 or ds-260??

both, i believe. the ds160 us the actual application for the visa. that should get done ASAP! tge ds260 comes a little later i believe. not really sure what that one's for. but the embassy site says both need to be filled out (but i think only part 1 for the ds260). check the embassy website for your county.
