My fiance's interview for the K-1 visa at the U.S. Embassy in Peru is tomorrow!!! Needless to see, I'm going a bit insane! Please help! Any encouragement would be great! We have all of the forms ready. Should I have sent my original birth certificate (I'm American)? My lawyer didn't say anything about it. He already has all the papers. He aleady did the doctor's appt. He already paid and has the receipt for $100 for the visa cost for tomorrow. He has a ton of photos of us together and the engagement proposal. Even pics of when my mom came to meet his family. Today, a fedex package (I HIGHLY suggest you use DHL! It is more reliable. More friendly. And COSTS LESS!!!!) from me will arrive there. I included all calling card records (mine and his) since October (NOA1), credit card/bank statements to show when I was there in December again, a lot of flight tickets, previous reservations, receipts, receipt from my engagement ring, receipt from buying wedding bands, Moneygram receipts from online from when I've sent him money for visa stuff, cards/letters/stamped envelopes from last 1yr 8 mos of relationship that we've sent to each other. And he's printing off about 4 emails I've sent him and 4 he's sent me in last 6 months (though there are 100s). Everything else is in our one-inch thick copy of the K-1 initial petition sent to California that he has a copy of to show also. I'm graduating in May from nursing school (I'm 25...second degree). So I included pay rates and differential on official letterhead of vandy hospital and copy of legal contract that i have to work with vandy for 2 years. but since i'm a student i have no tax returns yet so my father filled out the financial support also just in case.

Anything else we need to do? I'm in a state of panic though the lawyer basically told me it's not going to be a problem and that if anything, they might request an original of a document or something but it will not be denied. any more advice? PLEASE.

does he sign anything before he goes? or does it sign it all when he's there? we've been together since june 28 2005. and i've made 5 trips there since then so there shouldn't be any question of that. please tell me if we don't have all of our bases covered or if you have advice for the Peru consulate. I've already read reviews but need encouragement or advice!!!

It sounds like you've got everything covered. If you can get him your original birth certificate in time for his interview tomorrow, sure, send it. I know they tell you to bring all originals of copies that you've given them, in case they ask for it.

Good luck tomorrow!

See my lawyer never said anything about needing to send my original birth certificate. She said that there shouldn't be any doubt that I was born in the U.S. I didn't send even ALL originals from that packet because I didn't know because she never told me. She just told me to make sure that we can prove that the relationship still continues since october, when we sent the packet to california. I haven't seen anyone exactly write that they have asked for everytihng in the packet. Our packet was over one-inch thick. So I hope they don't really want it all. But we do have originals of all recent contact and old cards and everything else. Fingers crossed. His interview is tomorrow morning. It's too late to send anything. I have had enough trouble with Fedex already. DHL is definitely the way to go.
