I heard a Sheriff on TV say something about Martial Law....

A good idea really. But it won't stop them. One officer was not responsive and they had to drag him out to get him to a helicopter being attacked the whole time, it was absolutely terrifying to watch. I know this area well, good people live there and they have no way to protect themselves. Things will become even more dangerous by darkness.

baltimore has been going down a long, long time. this is what happens to a city when their drug addicts are handled as criminals and otherwise ignored for 30 plus years. but anyway, i see i've found the most recent vj thread where thinly veiled racism is openly accepted.

You sound surprised. Look at who started the thread, and who's making the meat of the comments. If Teddy didn't comment, I would have stayed out of it. Since I know where his head is at, the rest of them, there's no point...

Brett, speaking only for myself, I agree with your point that the principle of peaceful, non-violent protest and the observance of the rule of law is of utmost importance in any society. MLK, Gandhi, Mandela and all great opposition leaders throughout history have always preached this precept. Further, it is critical that in any democracy, investigation must be completed and due process must be honored before any government or police members are judged responsible.

That said, my greater source of personal concern, outrage and sympathy beyond this particular case is focused neither upon one night’s property damage nor upon the acts, but is focused rather upon the past four-decade period during which an American political elite have shipped middle class and working class jobs away from Baltimore and cities and towns around the U.S. to third-world dictatorships like China and others, plunged tens of millions of good, hard-working Americans into economic devastation, and then followed that action around the nation by diminishing every American’s civil rights protections in order to control an unfairly impoverished population living under an ever-declining standard of living and suffering at the butt end of an ever-more militarized and aggressive surveillance state.

The innocent working families of all backgrounds whose lives and dreams have been cut short by excessive violence, surveillance, and other abuses of the Bill of Rights by government pay the true price, and ultimate price, and one that far exceeds the importances of any kids’ game played tonight, or ever, at Camden Yards.
We need to keep in mind people are suffering and dying around the U.S., and while we are thankful no one was injured at Camden Yards, there is a far bigger picture for poor Americans in Baltimore and everywhere who don’t have jobs and are losing economic civil and legal rights, and this makes inconvenience at a ballgame irrelevant in light of the needless suffering government is inflicting upon ordinary Americans.

Baltimore. A disgusting example of what happens when the leaders of America pander to lawless looters and criminals. What is happening in Baltimore would have been shut down in years past, but it is being allowed to continue for what? To give space? To allow a group of criminals to behave like animals and destroy? Yes. You bet it is. So, who in law enforcement authority has not been de-balled and will call martial law immediately and arrest the scum on the streets?

Holder's gone, now it's Lynch. What we are witnessing is the destruction of America. Is it beyond repair? Yes. Probably so.

Thanks, and I did. Like I said before, folks see the rioting and looting and are distracted by what's behind it. I'm all for non violent protest against any type of injustice, but I have to admit, it's getting really old that people are being killed for the slightest thing, but folks that go on shooting sprees somehow get apprehended with little to no incident and taken alive.

This is more about looting and stealing and breaking into stores.

I hope the looters try to break into some houses and someone starts putting lead into them..

And, for the confused folks in the CHEST audience, the time for learning the content of a youtube video comes after you arrest violent criminals and looters. Strap-em up, and carefully put your hand on their head so they don't bang it when getting into the paddy wagon or police car. Keep them in jail for a few weeks, and round up several lawyers to help them get through the legal process.

Rule of law works great when it's enforced. Handing out ice cream sundaes is nice and so are gold stars and conversations. Best rule now, obey the damned law. Period.

Hardly surprising, was not the expectation that it would be a big shopping day?

What we see here in this discussion is nothing but the well fed being disgusted by the lack of table manners of the hungry.
