vaccines at a pharmacy, then transcribed?

Hey guys!

We just got the K1 approved, and I am getting stuff together for the AOS (I'm a planner  ).

Does anyone know if Gary can get the vaccines done at a pharmacy like CVS, and then bring the proof to the CS to transcribe onto the I-693? Or do they have to be done at the surgeons, if not in the original country? He won't be able to get them completed before he leaves England, the nurse at the medical told him he HAD to wait until he got to the US (because a vaccine would expire), and I would rather not pay through the nose (or if i have to, as little as possible).

Thank you!

What vaccine would expire? You only need one in a series to meet the AOS requirements.

Anyway, yes, you can get the vaccinations elsewhere and take the records with you to a civil surgeon to be transcribed onto an I-693.

I had one of my vaccines done at CVS. :-) then I just gave the papers that the CVS gave me to the clinic (surgeon) where I did the rest of my medical examination, had to do it at CVS coz the clinic run out of the vaccine that I needed. It was not a problem at all. :-) Hope this helps and goodluck on your visa journey. :-)

I am the beneficiary. ?

Thank you guys!

Jay-Kay, I believe it was the MMR that the nurse was talking about. I was with Gary when he attended the medical, and when he came back into the waiting room he said the nurse told him he wouldn't have the shots yet, because there wouldn't be time to have the 1st and 2nd in the proper time (and the 1st would run out before he could get the 2nd). I found it to be a bunch of hullabaloo, but I'm not a nurse.

Thank you for the replies! This eases my mind. :) I can afford the CVS pharmacy, while the CS want my first born child!

My wife had one vaccine done at Walgreens we talked to the civil surgeon and he said he did not need to transcribe. We incuded all the paperwork from the vaccine with the aos and it sailed through with out issue.mwas not transcribe jut included all paperwork on shot and no issues.

The shots can be from anywhere. He could go to NHS before he leaves. Did he have no shot record to take to Knightsbridge?

Does he have any of these with dates on his DS-3025?

MMR

Tdap or Td --date?

Varicella History ticked

Flu

No shot history was brought to Knightsbridge (because he doesn't have one). He has no dates except varicella because he had chickenpox. He can't get in to his GP before he leaves to get them done, it's weeks of waiting.

Got it. Well get the shots at the cheapest place. Also sometime Health Departments in the US are a cheaper alternative. Anyway, no Varicella shot needed and flu season ends in eleven days eliminating that one.

The MMR shot requirement is two shots, but they can't be closer together than 4 weeks for health reasons. If he gets the first shot and four weeks have not passed when he sees the civil surgeon, a waiver for "insufficient time interval" will be given. He never has to get the second shot. Plan the shots and civil surgeon appointment close together so he gets the waiver marked.

Make sure you clarify a price on the phone before going to a civil surgeon so you are not caught unaware with extra charges. Many say you need another full exam or a TB skin test. He doesn't as a K1.

Thank you! :)

So he doesn't need flu, because the transcription (and shots) will be done outside the season? There were other posts that because the medical was in flu season, it would still be required?

The vaccination date of record will be the date you get signed off on the I-693. The DS form and visa medical date don't count anymore, if that makes sense. It is the date of your I-693.
