YES! It is first-come, first-served. I don't know how to pull up old posts but when I was going through the process we had discussed it at length a lot. Anyone who was going at that time went early as possible and got to the front of the line. I think mine is written in length under my review... maybe? I don't recall but there was no way I wasn't getting that first spot! Even my little kids knew they had to stay right on my heels that morning! My husband went first and we joined him in line. It was early but it was worth it to get in there!

There is no need to be there at 7. It's up to you and how you want the day to play out. If you are going to go for your time given, then I would arrive around 30 mins early. Just be aware that if you aren't there first thing, you may have to wait longer in the waiting area. That's about it.

22 Jan 2013 -- packageSent
31 Jan 2013 -- NOA1 from NBC

6 Mar 2013 -- I130 transferred to Orlando local field office (which started the whole nightmare)

Mar 2013 to October 2013 no one would tell us where our case was or what was happening. I suspected the whole time it was just sitting in a corner somewhere in the Orlando field office. I was pretty much right.

October 2013 - get congressman involved. Congressman asks USCIS repeatedly about our case but they won't even tell them anything.

31 Jan 2014- finally get NOA2!!!! (we think the nightmare is over!)

NVC

Our case was not sent from the Orlando field office as it should have been. The nightmare continues. We kept calling NVC and asking if they received our case, and they always said "NO" and that we had to wait 90 business days for it to be received. We called USCIS during this time and they kept telling us it had been sent. After the 90 days of agonizing frustration, NVC then started telling us we had to wait 120 business days. I got our congressman involved again, and they told the congressman it was sitting at the Orlando office this whole time (just as I thought it was!).

22 Apr 2014 -- NVC received
16 May 2014 -- NVC case number assigned
24 May 2014 -- AoS and IV bills paid

28 May 2014 -- Sent AoS and IV Packages

6 June 2014 -- documents scanned

18 July 2014 -- false checklist from NVC

21 July 2014 -- Case complete

28 July 2014 -- receive case complete email from NV

30 July 2014 -- interview booked! September 11 here I come!

If you read the reviews, and it's my advice, it's best to show up at 7 and be first in line.

It is tradition to get there as early as possible..no matter if its -30C..just the way it is! lol My interview was in December (2004) it was chilly, but I was there early......made the mistake of going to Tim Hortons 1st..lost my #1 spot in line......Losing that coveted #1 spot still haunts me to this day....BUT I knew the elevator opened from the REAR....those other non-Vjer's did not......I got the last laugh and 1st ticket for the Cr-1/Ir-1 folks!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I went to my interview yesterday and they were giving the tickets before you entered the building and went through security screening, I had drawn a map to be sure I could get to the elevator and be out 1st but never needed to use it haha! Was number 2 :)

March 30th, 2016: Biometrics (as a code 2, Maybe have to go again?)

April 25th, 2016: Walk in for the SECOND Biometrics appoinment (Code 3 this time, Officer was not the happiest but told us to come back at noon and he'd let us in.)

May 16th, 2016: Submitted Service Request for I-765

June 8th, 2016: Called USCIS concerning delay, officer put another request in and said the previous one would like be ignored as it was created through their website.

June 21st, 2016: Contacted both NY Senators.

July 1st, 2016: RFIE for I-485.

July 8th, 2016; Sent Evidence Requested by USCIS. (Received July 13th)

July 15th, 2016; Emergency Advance Parole due to Family Emergency

July 27th, 2016; Contacted USCIS Ombudsman as my I-765 has been pending for 5 months.

July 30th,2016; EAD/AP have been approved!

Honestly no - you don't need to arrive at 7 am for an afternoon interview time. This business of getting there and facing a certain way in the elevator and running to Window x to pay a fee when you get out makes it sound like a big game.....we're all acting like we won't eventually be served.

A few years back arriving at 7 am , people were turned away and told to come back at noon, closer to their interview time.

I liked the fact that I was out of there by 9am, which is why I went early. I had a 2pm flight. If you show up later, yes you'll get it done but will you be waiting longer? Yes you will. Depends on how long you want to sit around in the consulate.

they are turning people away now...read up on recent mtl reviews. they are even turning away accompanying spouses.

they are handing out numbers per your visa type prior to entering the building.....looks like they're streamlining the process.

i have mine on tuesday....i'm at 830.....i plan on being in line early but not before 7:15-7:30
