Moving to California Service Center

We received our NOA1 on 1 November 2014 and we're still waiting (yay for the Texas Service Center!)

We both have lived together in the the foreign country until now (my parents' Texas address has been being used - this is probably why we were assigned to the Texas SS, whoops I meant Texas SC!).

I, the petitioner have to start a new job in the US in the next 2 weeks and am moving to California to start planting the seeds for our new life over there, while my fiancee is going to have to wait alone in our apartment for another 2 or 3 months, at least which is gong to double our living expenses. (according to what the statistics are telling us).

My question: as I am moving to California, can our I-129F petition for the K1 be transferred over the Cali SS? If so, do you recommend doing so?

Best,

Sadly no, moving to California does not transfer your petition. If it did, you can bet California would be seeing a lot of new residents. ;)

Nope.

Hi, could you kindly give more details if you have any?

Your petition was already accepted and routed to a service center. This service center has your petition, among thousands of others, waiting for someone to look at it. If someone were going to just go look and grab your file just to transfer it, they might as well adjudicate it right there because it would be quicker than doing a personal transfer.

Many people move throughout the process, but this doesn't change where your petition is processed. Your petition is usually sent to the service center based on your location AT THE TIME of filing.

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Sorry, not an option available to you.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Hi, could you kindly give more details if you have any?

They don't play musical service centers with petitions, and they don't accept requests to move to another service center.

It goes to the service center it goes to and that's where it stays until it's adjudicated, or, if they happen to decide that they are moving batches of petitions to another service center for workload reasons. But even in that case you can't request that yours goes or doesn't, it's whatever they decide and that's that.

No transfer, you are stuck in TSC as you are already in the pile of applications, and you have a "pecking order" now, just hope TSC speeds up for you,

At least you will be very busy getting the move made, time might go by faster for you two!

Good luck, and you need to notify the USCIS of your move when you move if you move before the approval comes.
