Issues filing esta application while k1 is being processed

Hello all, woke up with a text from my s/o this morning stating there was an error when she was applying for an esta visa for a wedding we are attending in California in May. We have a k1 pending (i sent it on Jan 6, so very early stages).

The error she is getting states:

"A valid, approved application with more than 30 days remaining has been found for this passport. Submitting this application will require payment for this application and will then cancel the existing application"

My s/o is freaking out because she thinks this is referring to our pending k1, and thinks that if she submits the esta application it will cancel our fiance visa process. I think there is no way this is possible however she has no other pending applications for an esta on her visa as of current, and the last time she was here was over 8 months ago.

Their email support hasnt been much help and keeps referencing the website. Has anyone run into this issue? Image attached below..

ESTA lasts a certain amount of time, you don't just apply for every trip, they last about 3 months I think.

But I'm not sure if that could be it, especially if it's been 8 months.

But ESTA has nothing to do with your k1 application, so hitting start a new application will do NOTHING to your k1.

Yea, ive told her the same thing as it only makes sense. The esta site says it is good for two years or until the applicants passport expires, I wish I could find something in writing stating it wont affect the k1 though.

Ah it's longer lasting there than it is in the UK then, bet that's so much easier.(maybe the UK is the same.....)

Explain to her that ESTA has no baring on the K1 because the K1 is not applied for online unlike ESTA.

the K1 is applied through USCIS and your local embassy, the ESTA is not.

Two completely different processes.

All I found was this.

ESTA is not a visa. It does not meet the legal requirements to serve in lieu of a U.S. visa when a visa is required. Travelers that possess a valid U.S. visa may travel to the United States on that visa for the purpose it was issued. Travelers traveling on valid visas are not required to apply for an ESTA. In the same way that a valid visa does not guarantee admission to the United States, an approved ESTA is not a guarantee of admission to the United States.

This is just saying she already has an active ESTA and trying to save the $20 or so by applying another one when she's already got one. And ESTA is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

The ESTA for germans should be valid for 2 years. at least mine was each time and I am german. and I travelled to the US several times during the pending K1 Visa with no problems at all. If she goes on the Esta official website and choses to retrieve application she will be asked for her passport number ( as far as I remember ) and it should tell her exactly till when her ESTA is valid. https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/

Tell her that she should continue retrieve with her petition, because every ESTA last two years to expire, but each time last 90 days. So probably, she did it before, and forgot it maybe. Just go back and try to see if she can find the application filling her passport number, DOB, First and Last Name, and Passport Issuing Country, then she should be fine.
