USCIS Receipt number..correct?

While reviewing my receipt number format on the “I-797C, Notice of Action” I compared it to the decipher format on VJ. http://www.visajourney.com/content/uscis-receipt-number

My receipt # format is EAC01-xxx-y-zzzz; fair enough, as it’s Vermont in a particular fiscal year.

But the rest is confusing.

The next 3 digits (xxx) should be working day of the fiscal year my case was received, my number is >365.

The next digit (y), an internal USCIS number.. that I read online should be a 5.., is not that; it’s a different digit. Ok, ignoring that..

Finally, the last four digits (zzzz), should be the order my case was received that day, is way above 5000. I can’t imagine over 5,000 cases were received at Vermont that day.

Any thoughts if it's an incorrect receipt #, or is VJ's decipher format outdated?

incorrect Receipt number? No its not incorrect. It's correct. You can look it up on the website can you not and get status? And yes its very well valid over 10000 cases could have arrived at the certain on a given day or week. You never know what was happening at that time. They do get 10,0000 of thousands a month you know.

Ignore the hyphens.

You have misinterpreted the explanation with the format USCIS has sent you it in.

I added the hyphens (my emphasis) to break down the long number; there were none on my actual notice.

The EAC-15 is self-explanatory. It were the remaining digits "...-###-#-####..." that did not fit the established format, imho.

You are correct, now that I look back, I was able to look up the case on the website.

But as noted in my post right above, the ###-#-#### do not fit the pattern if I go by VJ's deciphering format.

That said, I'm not going to lose sleep over it and just wait for my notifications..

Others who responded above didn't mentioned anything about the formatting rules having changed. The digits definitely seem amiss, I just can't figure out how so. Oh well...
