Hi,

Our K1 was sent to TSC with a filing date of 2-13-15. Im hoping we get NOA2 by sep/oct.. As of now we hired a lawyer for the first part. We intend to rehire once we get NOA2, however, there are lots of people advising that a lawyer is not needed. Can I ask if anyone on this forum with a similar time frame has/had a lawyer? Also does anyone know how I can get my timeline to display below my text like everyone else has?

Thanks

Levy

A lawyer does not speed things up. I sent mine in the 11th of Feb. They accepted it on the 12th( next day delivery). I got my NOA 1 the following Monday. You are spending more money that you need too. most ppl on here completed and filed the paperwork alone!

You have to type it in manually (at least that's how I did it). Go to the drop down menu where your account name is (top right corner), click on "my settings", then select "signature", There will be a box where you can type in whatever you want.

Hi Levy

I was going to ask a similar question about the Lawyer. Myself and Fiancé are almost ready to file and we're looking to use an immigration lawyer for the whole process. Can I ask are most people doing the same or filing themselves???

Also quoted roughly $7000 by the law firm for their services... Does that sound reasonable ??

Most people are filing themselves. I filled in September 2013 and was approved in January 2014. We had to withdraw but we did everything by ourselves without consulting a lawyer. I did it all by myself this go round and we just waiting for NOA2. You can do it alone for free only paying the fees required by USCIS! Don't waste your money on a lawyer!

Henley: Answer to question above, I am an engineer and a CEO of a medium sized multinational company. I live by data and numbers. I like to draw my own conclusions to data. Good Luck and I will race you to NOA2

Marc: On the lawyer question. I have dealt with lawyers a lot in my business and personal life. My advice here is you don't need one. All the data you are providing, your lawyer can only mess up the process and slow it down. It's simply filling out forms and following directions. If you don't know something.... someone here(or two or three) from what I have seen can usually answer the question. Use the search feature and dig on your own. Many of my concerns were covered in some post or thread on this forum.

I would save the $7000 and use it for getting your fiancé here and for the wedding. Maybe a huge "rock" with the 7K the lawyer wanted.

IMHO Lawyers only add value if you have some issues in the past with the law. Good Luck to all

Hi Marc,

We used a Lawyer for the first K1 application and we intend to not use the lawyer going forward as I have done my research and its really not difficult to apply yourself.

I was using a Kansas City based lawyer who was charging $2000 for everything, so in that sense $7000 sounds outrageous.

Ive found there is a lot of good info on this site and if you follow it all properly, there is no reason you cant do this all yourself. I wish id known that before we gave the lawyer the first $1000

Cheers

Levy

We could rent an apartment in Ohio, Indiana or Michigan. Would be closer for both of us and have the same result. Nice scam to try. Imaging 15 K-1's from the same addresss. I am sure they get that with some DACA applications :dancing:

Scam .. Huh. It's a workaround. We pay taxes like folks in states that are routed to CSC. Why is it my fault that I live in GA and have to suffer consequences of USCIS mismanagement of balancing workload?

All is fair in love and war and life ain't fair.. We all heard the cliche's..

I can't move heaven and earth to spend every second with the love of my life.. Thanks TSC.

But I can sure as heck try options and post a freaking question online? to find possibilities. Our govt already have some bigger fish to fry than pick on one of us who try .. That rhymed.

Called the President at (202) 456-1111 and left a comment :help: about TSC backlog with a nice lady at the other end. She promised that she would 'definitely' relay the message to our President. I hope she does as promised. I know, i'm optimistic but it's worth a try.

Next up, i'm planning on writing a letter too. Chances that i might be read are slim but..it's worth a try. I hope everyone who is going thru this does this and rattle some cages so we are heard and maybe..just maybe, some one will take action.
