Thank you for starting this thread. I have been anxious all month. I have seen quite a few people whose file date was before and after mine update their profile to having received their NOA2. It can be a bit frustrating at times but it is good to know that I am not the only one who feels this way. Good Luck to everyone!

CatherineA - it was a tier 2 guy that was so rude, how much information would they have compared to tier 1? and i went about 2 months ago to my field office and spoke to someone and she said the last time my case was opened was in june, so i know it has been assigned, so what does that mean? can tier 2 give me that info too or should i make another appointment with infopass at my field office? i hate being that sob story to these people, i know they hear it a million times a day, so i keep it short, but i just want answers, someone has to know, it's not right they would have information and withhold it from me, it's my case. ahhh im getting frustrated again!!

I don't know for sure how much more or exactly what information Tier 2 has over Tier 1 but I can all but guarantee that they have access to much more than Tier 1. Tier 1 is for sure government contractors, and I think that they are only given the "official line" about things and are paid to repeat it to us. Tier 2 is government workers and probably have access to the actual database where you can actually track things--like the information you got about it being opened in June. Tier 1 probably (?) can't see that but Tier 2 can. Maybe. Not sure, just a guess from years of government work (both contract and direct work).

I haven't heard of "case was opened" or anything like that. Sorry. I've heard of "assigned" but I don't know exactly what that means or how long it takes. I doubt infopass will help. Honestly, I think your best bet for now is your Congressional rep and the knowledge that it really should be coming soon.

You're assuming a lot in assuming that "someone has to know". I think that is 50% of the problem with USCIS. There's no one paying attention at the wheel. I think that you've already been told the most that anyone knows but you can try some more. And if they won't explain things like what "assigned" means....well that's their prerogative. It's not right, but there's no recourse besides dragging the USCIS bosses in front of Congress and demanding answers but that's not going to happen over an issue like this. Because even the bosses have no idea how bad customer service is and even if they did, they wouldn't want to fix it the lack of transparency in general is GOOD for them (the goal is clearly to cover their butts) and because Congress has much bigger fish to fry with USCIS than these infuriating timelines (DAPA being the big one, and the most recent reason the bosses were dragged in front of Congress to testify).

I cannot stress enough about keeping it short and sweet with the Congressional folks (this is true for any customer service issue, but I know from experience that it's true for the Congressional offices). It's not that they don't care--it's that your personal circumstances, unless they were so urgent that you qualified for an expedite months ago--they don't make a difference in their ability to help you. There's not the public line, the Congressional line and then a third line for especially hard-luck cases, or their best friends or even themselves. There is nothing more they can do except call and inquire on your behalf. And they're human too. Sometimes, it's better to knock out the low hanging fruit and get a bunch of things off your desk quickly. Be the low hanging fruit. Short email. Direct question. Make it easy to help you.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!

!

ok i need someone advise , for best answer to my lawyer because i am a little bit felt frustrated, this is part of her email to me and my fiancee

Your petition will be forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC is a preprocessing center for all cases marked for overseas processing. Your case will also undergo certain security clearance checks while at the NVC. The NVC will mail you a letter once these checks have been completed to notify you that the petition is being forwarded to the U.S. Consulate in Cairo to begin overseas processing. As of late, the NVC has been taking approximately 35 days to complete their processing, but there is still a chance that we may receive notice from them sooner.

If you do not receive a letter from the NVC within the next 45 days please email me so I can follow up with them on status.

what is she saying, how is this possible, i know it is the time 25 but it is less that that in so many cases, plus she only want us to contact her if it reached 45 days!!!!!!!

i need best answer for her, thank God i am in this forum and makes me know more than she i think knows

Lawyer did nothing to help me. I recognized it so I removed my lawyer from my case (sent letter to NVC). We do everything without the lawyer after NOV2 and everything run better. From NOV2 to Interview, it takes only 1 month. If your fiance(fiancee) from VietNam, I can share more information to help, just inbox me.

you know, i know that she is not doing her best , what she is mentioned does not make any sense, even if it takes 35 days what should i wait another 10 days until i contact you to contact them , the only thing we are with her already we paid them 2000 dollars we cant refund them, and i pray she can help me with my consulate if i have any problem,

if you can please tell me, what can i do on my own to have the assigned number i am the beneficiary, and not to wait the time she is talking about

i would appreciate so much to let me know the steps what should i do and when

Simple

1. After you have NOV2, still check USCIS website until they transfer your case to NVC. (one week)

2. After your case was sent to NVC, wait 1 week and start call this number (should tell them you are K1) 603-334.0888. Call in the morning. They will let you know when your case in NVC system and assigned. Normally, they will have this from 1 or 2 weeks.

The answer is NO, call them only and should be patient

If you can wait, they will mail P3 (include Case #) to your lawyer, not you, after 3 weeks or more
