We didn't receive a request for the 5540. I haven't seen anyone else get the request either. Might be prudent to complete it and take it just in case but I felt pretty confident in our AOS and supporting documents.

Yes, same here. We are confidential about our AOS but will definitely fill out DS-5540 just in case they ask (though it seems most posts stated the CO did not even ask for that). Better be safe than sorry.

I think this link is to a specific thread but navigating the site might unlock more information.

https://daysintheusa.com/forums/topic/フリートーク/

This is the thread specifically talking about their 7/31 interview at the embassy in Tokyo. Use Google Translate if needed.

https://daysintheusa.com/forums/topic/7-31面接だったんですが/

On that day, everyone was in AP was told that there was "legal challenge" that prevented the issuance of IV.

But there wasn't much update since then....wonder what happens to their cases...hopefully it has already or will be resolved soon.

I think these blogs tend to be riddled with speculation. That said, if someone from the 31st heard something they would have said something by now. The day this came out my wife sent me a message.

There were more approvals today. A new one from Nigeria. That said, if you've ever followed the statistics on monthly approvals by country Japan tends to have a lot less so I wouldn't expect to see much on VJ for Japan approvals.

For sure...just need to take a with a grain of salt. But at least it gave a glimpse of what was happening.

Did see other approvals in other part of the world which is good.

Guess there is only one way to find out - go to the interview (ours is next week).

Feels great to wake up to good news! Good luck to those interviewing in the next couple weeks.

And for those just starting the journey, stick with the people on VJ. Great community and great source of information.
