The vaccination card my husband has need to have info transfered to a form so that means the original card is not acceptable?

My question is - What is a "reasonable fee"?

They are saying they have to charge me for a full medical even if it's just paperwork - 110$? Should I look elsewhere? Geepers. It will take 10 min! I should go for my PHD!

Okay so I'm really really confused.

At my interview in Montreal they gave me a form that says "VACCINATION DOCUMENTATION MEDICAL WORKSHEET TWO" that is "For Use in Canada Only". It has alll the list of my series completed for vaccines, as well as the Dr. in Canada who preformed the medical's signature.

I'm getting that I need to get this put on an "official" gov. form called the I-693A by a civil surgeon here in the US. What i don't get is this Called 2 Dr's -

One stated that they don't make any distinction between transcribing the information and a full medical - and it would cost me $110.00 either way

The second stated that he will not transcribe 3rd party information - ie. someone else's notes, and he's never heard of that and would have to do a full medical to be able to sign anything.

Ummm... what am I missing here?

Doctor #2 is full of #######.

The problem with all civil surgeons is that the rates vary wildly. Call around & get more quotes. SHouldn't be more than $20 or so. Explain in DETAIL (their secretaries are usually useless) that it's a transcription ONLY & needed for immigration papers.

Call around for the best deal. I went to Dr Gabriel in Chelmsford (crappy but cheap), you can usually find a good deal if you check with most of them on the list.

Thanks all for the reassurance of my logic. I need to change my "line of thinking".. In Canada it's pretty standard across the board for fees and Dr's time.. Here it would appear it's more of a business. Gotta change my thinking on that one. *sigh* I'll get there.. Thanks for the tips!

I wish there were some standard with respect to civil surgeons' knowledge and fee schedule, but there's not. Many will use it as an opportunity to charge for a full medical, even though USCIS is quite clear that another medical is not needed if you've had your medical for the interview within a year.

We are going to my doc ($20 co-pay) & he is getting a blood test that will show all the vaccinations he has had( because he can't get his history from Ireland) once we do that we found a doc that will fill out the paperwork-I-693 for $25.00

I don't think anyone should ahve to pay more than $25 for a doc to fill ot a piece of paper

this process is nuts

I actually got a phone call back from one of the Dr's on the list. He was concerned we might not find a Dr. to do it for an affordable rate! Bless the man!! We explained AGAIN what we needed, and I thankfully have all my vacination records from Canada, so he's going to do the paperwork for 25$. There are Civil Surgeons out there who care, and who have empathy for the Immigration process I found out !!! He said, you have been through enough already and it is TERRIBLE that others would try to make a profit off of the Visa Process..

AMEN to that!
