Hi VJ Friends,

So, I am ready to file our IR-1 forms. Just want to double check with everyone here that I have the proper documentations!!

  1. Completed and signed form I-130
  2. Check for I-130 filing fee
  3. Completed and signed form G-325A and photograph (petitioner)
  4. Completed and signed form G-325A and photograph (beneficiary)
  5. Form G-1145 Completed
  6. Copy of my birth certificate
  7. Copy of our marriage certificate (translated, legalized and in extenso)
  8. Copy of co-joint Apartment Lease (translated)
  9. Copy of letter from health insurance showing dependency (translated)
  10. Copy of Passport Stamps as evidence

I also have phone bills and pictures. Should I include those? I don't want to overwhelm them with so much evidence.

Also, I have a separate questions.

1. I have been living here in the Dominican Republic since April 2014 but traveled to the States from Sept to Nov and worked for those two months. Am I going to have to show proof of re-instating back to the states?

2. For my marriage certificate, Do I need to send original showing that is legalized and in extenso or just copy?

3. Do I need to include a separate letter explaining why my mailing address is different from my residency address?

Those are just the little things that have me a bit worried. I appreciate in advance for the response. I just want to start this journey ASAP! Want to be back home :star:^_^

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

That looks good but I would definitely include the phone bills and pictures. What you have included now doesn't seem like a lot of evidence. My petition was 142 pages long and I've seen people on here submit 200+ page petitions. Of course there's a certain point when it becomes excessive, but I'd say where you are now is not excessive yet. :)

1. I'm not sure and to be honest am afraid I did this wrong myself in my petition. If you do have to re-establish domicile, however, it doesn't seem too complicated, especially since you weren't gone long. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/support/i-864-series-forms-faqs.html Scroll down to "Domicile" and read more there.

2. You don't need to send any originals, photocopies are what they want.

3. I would probably just mention it in the cover letter, but if you want to do a separate one, just make sure to list the letter in your cover letter.

I would definitely include some pictures, a selection throughout your relationship, particularly with friends/family. I think all your other evidence is good, no need to worry too much about this part. Our petition was only about 40 pages in total.

Good luck!

Answers:

  1. Yes, but that comes later when your file is at the NVC and you are submitting the I-864.
  2. Photocopies only for both USCIS and the NVC, the original is to be brought to the interview.
  3. No

Lastly, as others have already stated, include copies of the bills and pictures when you submit your petition.
