Prior Spouse Details Unknown!!!

Something sounds really strange. Unless she's having some memory related health issue,

how can one not even have any clue as to roughly what age (year) she got married,

and what location (county to be specific) she was married/divorced?

That said, one time I had to check up on detail background of this person,

and I spent about $100 on online site, and got

- all past resident addresses associated to this person

- got all the public criminal records, traffic violations, real estate properties,

law suits & settlements, and marriage and divorce information

To run such research, usually you will need her social security number, birth date,

and name.

Even without this problem, I think its worth running such background report on

each other before the marriage. In some cases, running their credit history report

will also be informative.

Really strange that someone would forget all that information. I can understand forgetting the exact date the divorce was granted but not all the other stuff. Something doesn't seem right here...

It is VERY easy to find information on previous marriages in the U.S. I find it frustrating actually that there is so much to find so easily! If she knows where she lived when she got divorced then you can easily start at the courthouse there.

You will have to submit a divorce decree to prove that the marriage has formally ended, including official date of divorce. If you do not provided that there is a good chance your case is denied since the USCIS will not have evidence that the marriage has formally ended. Most countries, if not all, provide such certificates through the government so I wonder why that cannot be obtained, and what country does not keep such. I also wonder why fiancee does not even remember date and year of divorce as such is pretty significant information. I agree with many other posts, something does not feel right about this, but ultimately the USCIS will need such divorce decree or certificate, so if that cannot be produces, it will become a legal problem for you that you might not be able to overcome.

Start the process of obtaining certified copies of the divorce certificate. It is going to be needed. Might as well get several copies. They will be needed in the future.

Not quite correct. Only one certified copy is needed. You never have to hand it over, you just have to show it.

Similar scenarios on here have included situations where there was no prior divorce.
