Hi,

I just arrived here in America last Oct.9, 2014 and it's been almost 4 months now. I called the USCIS about my green card and they said that they already send my plastic green card last Nov. 15, 2014 but they took it back because I'm not registered in my address so they told me to go to the local post office to register and they will send the green card 30 to 45 days but told me that I need to register first and when I got there at the post office and ask them about it they said that there's no such as registering about the address. So they gave me this card it's about the military draft and it's required to register between the age of 18 to 25 males, so I registered because it's required and I think that this is the one the USCIS is talking about. But I read some forums that they already received their green card without registering at SSS.

Is there really such a thing as registering at local post office to prove that I really live here? But I already received my SSN here in our address.

Please help me. Thank you!

Sorry for the bad english tho

Wow, that's weird. I don't think Selective Service is tied up with the GC (although it is your responsibility to register).

I got my GC with no issues from the USPS. I didn't have to "register" with them.

Some ppl have had issues with not getting their mail at their address. Some advice I've seen was go to the post office like you were told to let them know you are at the address, some mention make sure you have your name on the mailbox.

It has nothing to do with selective services, it's just a matter of the mailman not recognizing your name and possibly returning your mail. Do you get any mail in your name yet?

We get mail form ppl who have moved several years ago, and mail form ppl down the street. Our mail man doesn't seem to care what he sticks in our mailbox. Is it possible your mailman put your mail in someone else's mailbox.

Thank you so much for replying!

I haven't received any mail yet since I got here except my SSN. Maybe that's the problem? Any idea what should I do about it?

A few suggestions:

Make friends with your mail carrier.

Start having some things sent to you via the mail or even send yourself a couple of postcards and see if they arrive.

Make sure your name is on the mailbox.

Talk to your local postmaster.
