Okay, I've read the posts on here and some people have just mailed in their ds-2035 form from overseas and some have gotten the i-693a from the civil surgeons. Can someone tell me a civil surgeon in Maryland Near Washington DC that just transfers the information and doesnt insist you to get a full medical examination.

Unless someone has already had a positive experience with a CS in your location, you'd be best to call around.

Definately call around! It took us four or five calls to find one that would transfer my husband's vaccination record to the I-693a. One CS insisted that my husband had to have a new medical. When I told her what the guidelines are regarding medicals, she promptly (and rudely) informed me that this was HER practice and SHE could do and will do whatever she chooses, not to mention she charges $300. We found one about an hour and a half away that charged us only $50 to fill out the form AND to give him the Tetanus shot he needed. That was definately worth the trip and all that calling around.

Ha! Calling around is my ToDo list for tomorrow. I'll post if I find anything positive out since we are in the same city.

sounds like we talked to the same person

i had a similar experience, where they tried to tell me that nessa needed a full exam. i told them no she did not, she just needs the ds-3025 transcribed onto an i-693a. they changed their tune real quick once they figured out i was not gonna be stampeded into that nonsense.

for the op, don't let the civil surgeon buffalo you into thinking you need a full exam. i think the requirement is as long as the medical they had is less than a year old, you just need the i-693a. the transcribing of such ran me $40, just call around to the ones listed on that link that kitkat provided and aim for that ballpark price of $40-60. good luck.

I called nearly all doctors in the MD area..most had no idea what form I-693A is and INSISTED that my husband (wow, that's the first time I've called him my husband here!! anyway..) needed to get the full physical exam and pay the corresponding amount .. and the few that knew what 693A was, insisted that they weren't allowed to fill it out without doing the 693. In other words...no vaccination supplement without a full physical.

To make a long story short, I finally found a place that will only charge $35. It wasn't easy to get them to say that though, I basically had to argue and insist... the receptionist told me to bring the form, and a letter from USCIS saying they only need 693A. The place is:

Dr. Robert G. Greenfield, Silver Spring Medical Center

8121 Georgia Avenue, Suite 208, Silver Spring, MD 20910

(301) 587-8600

Someone here mentioned that Dr Anchors only charged $20, but when I called and was told that he needed the full physical...I think you have to call and ask for the doctor and talk to him/her NOT the receptionst. Here's the contact info if you wanna give it a try:

Dr. J. M. Anchors

16220 Frederick Road, Suite 210, Gaithersburg, MD 20877

(301) 990-6061

good luck and let me know if everything goes well...we still haven't gone yet, but plan on doing it this week.

I take it back...I just called to schedule an appointment and was told the DS-3025 is not acceptable in the US and that he needs to pay $150 for the physical , and $35-70 per vaccination (HE DOESNT NEED ANY!!). This is really freaking frustrating.

I found another one alllllllllllllll the way in Springfield, Va that will only charge $25.

Dr. Imtiaz A. Choudhary, Travel Clinic

6226 Old Franconia Road, Alexandria, VA 22310

(703) 313-5060

I asked if I could fax them the ds-3025 ahead of time to see if they'll accept it, instead of driving allllllll the way to VA and getting rejected...so that's what I'm about to do.

Sigh...wish this wasn't so difficult. Good luck to all!

If we are supposed to get only the I-693a does it have to be in a sealed envelope? I'm going to see a doctor in gaithersburg this afternoon, she said it would cost $20, but I will let you guys know.

OK...I am totally confused now. My finacee did her medical back in Nov 06....what proof will she have to show to the civil surgeon here that she did the medical already for her K1 visa.

I live in the Palm Beach area in Florida and so far all Drs are telling me that they will have to do the entire medical from scratch. Please advise.
