I'll be honest, the only thing I was annoyed about for my (ex) friend's wedding was the cost of the dress and the alterations. The dresses originally came down below the knee and had to be altered to fit above them. I spent MORE on that bridesmaid's dress than I did on my own wedding dress. >_< She didn't even take the time off work to attend my wedding. (Granted she had about 3 months notice vs the year for hers. )

See that just isn't right. I don't think anyone should demand great expense of their bridesmaids. I am happy for us to choose something (the four of us together) that is within everyones budget, or at least what they all think is reasonable, and will also give them all the chance to tell me 1-1 if they can't afford it and didn't want to say in front of the others.

I also agreed (at the MOH's request) that I wouldn't choose a strapless one because she doesn't like them. I just feel the additional demand of it being the length she wants is a bit much, when I am trying to be as accommodating as possible!

Sorry can you tell I needed a rant?

Maybe I'll just say the choice is long and strapless or short(er) with straps....

I think it's really important to consider your MOH's feelings. if she is very small in stature or if she is short but fluffy she may be uncomfortable wearing something that is short in length. It is, of course, your day BUT she is also on display and has to "work" around you as your support and help for the day. Keep those things in mind. Is your dress going to require her to adjust it and move a train around? Does she have extra tasks to do that mean she is being watched by all your guests? Perhaps she prefers a long dress because she thinks her legs are too fat for the cowboy boots you're talking about. I have NO idea what her build is and i have no idea what tasks she is responsible for on the day of your wedding. But keep those things in mind as you decide. You naturally want a certain look for your wedding but she is probably the person you're depending on that day so make sure she's comfortable and not having to worry about how she looks and feels. That's my two cents.

With that said, there are a lot of lovely dresses that are considered cocktail length that are shorter in the front and a little longer in the back, it would make her look longer than she is but still give her some coverage if that is what she wants.

I know this isn't the right style but I don't have time to look around at dresses lol but having the cowboy boots peaking out front would still be cute.
