I was told over the phone, by a uscis tier 2 officer, that my oath was scheduled for 1/27/15 @ 9am. I haven't yet received my letter. But, when I look up Phoenix, Arizona Naturalization Ceremony info, it takes me to a courthouse page and has all these listings. http://www.azd.uscourts.gov/sites/default/files/documents/Naturalization%20Ceremony-Phoenix.pdf

My date isn't on there.

So, was I told the wrong date? Or is my ceremony different and not happening in a court?

Are you changing your name? If not, your ceremony is probably not being held at a court.

Did he give you the address for the ceremony? If you have been scheduled for an administrative ceremony your oath will not take place in a court; it will be administered by a USCIS official.

If you are scheduled for a judicial ceremony then your oath will be presided over by a judge and will take place in a formal court session, but not necessarily in a courthouse; for example in Houston the judicial oaths are carried out at a stadium.

Are you getting your name changed? If not then you may have been scheduled for an administrative oath. Administrative oath ceremonies would not be listed on the court website.

I am changing my last name, but it was already changed through marriage. So it is not an official name change (I was told this at my interview).

It must be administrative! Did not give me the address. Trying to imagine where it would be held at now.

Then you are not scheduled for a judicial ceremony in all likelihood.Your ceremony will not be scheduled by the courts; that's why your date doesn't show up on their website.

How would I find out more info about administrative ceremonies? Will it just be me then?

Well the information you need should have been on the letter, but since you didn't get a letter the person you spoke to on the phone should have given you the date, time, and address. I don't think there's any reason why it should only be you Anyone who's not getting a name change could be scheduled for an administrative ceremony. In fact some cities only schedule administrative ceremonies... for example anyone naturalized in San Francisco would go to an administrative ceremony so there will be hundreds of people there.

Contact USCIS at 1330 S 16th st Phoenix Az . You need to make an Info Pass appointment to get inside.

You will go there at some point to do the bio portion. You will be informed later of your oath date which will include many other people. There is a desk outside the oath room where you can apply for a passport ect.

The ceremonies were really amazing. A great experience.

Hi Canadianmamaof2 ,

I just completed my oath ceremony on Thursday and I was a Canadian citizen prior. I had received the letter informing me of the ceremony date about 3-4 weeks prior to the ceremony. I was instructed that I must bring that letter to the oath ceremony and there was a questionairre on the back of the letter that had to be completed. I aslo had to sign and date the form and print my address on it. They collected and checked the forms along with our green cards as we entered the auditorium for the ceremony (there were 134 of us Thursday afternoon). My oath ceremony was an administrative ceremony held in the same location as my interview: the Department of Homeland Security USCIS office in Chicago.

I hope this information helps. Take care and good luck.
