Hello, we were recommended to this site by some friends who said this site was very helpful in obtaining her visa. Their situation was a bit different than mine and my wife's. I'm hoping some of you can help steer us in the right direction on what we should do. First of all I am an american citizen living in the USA. My wife is a citizen of Switzerland currently living in Switzerland. We married here (USA) in June of 2014. She was not ready to move here at that time due to her employment there (the reason for not getting a K1). She is planning to transfer her job here with the same employer once she has her green card. We are ready to start these proceedings, we are just not completely sure of everything just yet. Hence the reason I am asking for your help.

As of right now, to our understandings, we are to fill out and send in an I-130, with a separate G325A for each of us. Then we send this in to the proper authorities along with a copy of our marriage certificate, my birth certificate, my divorce decree (I was previously married) a passport style photo of each of us and $420.00 filing fee. Assuming I have left nothing out, the process would start from there. What we are not sure of is any type of time frame. Yes we should have started this before now, and we would be ahead of the game. Unfortunately that was not the case.

So our real questions are. What kind of time frame are we looking at? We know time frames differ from case to case, but give us some examples from your experiences so we have a ball park idea. Is the K3 something we should consider? Will this help to get her stateside sooner? What are some things that we might come across that we may or may not have thought about?

I'm sure we will have more questions as time goes on. Any help at all is much appreciated. We look forward to hearing from anyone with knowledge of our type of situation. Thanks in advance

A K-3 Visa is almost obsolete. however you could do the CR/IR-1 visa how long it will take I could not give you a definite answer. you cold research timelines on this site and that will give you a rough estimate on how long it will take for you but that is only an estimate

A year or so.

Difficult to tell with the recent changes

About a year is correct. We don't have many members from Switzerland (I am actually a Swiss citizen, but did the visa process in Ireland), so it is hard to give you a more exact timeframe, as a lot of the process will be what happens after NVC- ie how quickly you can schedule the medical, and how quickly the embassy schedules the interview. But yes, about a year or a bit more is correct.
