I had my interview yesterday, and my K1 visa was approved! Thank you, Lord!

I asked the consul if I were approved because I wanted to hear it (the word “approved”) from him. He seemed surprised that I didn’t know that I was approved. I didn’t want to assume anything.

Before my interview, my fiancé prayed that I would have good consuls. The one who got my biometrics was a little serious, but he was not mean. The Filipina consul was very friendly contrary to most of the posts I read here. The American consul was also nice. He was serious but not scary. He asked a lot of questions, but he was not intimidating. I’m glad I was able to answer all of his questions. Some were about the visas I have/had and my job before where I had the visa, and the others were follow-up questions from my previous answers. His last question (my favorite one) was, “What is something about your fiancé that bothers you?” I said, “I can’t think of anything right now, but I will probably find out about it when we’re married, “ and we both laughed. He said, “You probably will.”

I texted my fiancé when I got home, and I was surprised that he was still awake. He said that he couldn’t sleep because he was thinking about me and my interview. He was so happy when I told him the good news. I hope I’ll get my visa soon. I can’t wait to be with my fiancé! It still feels surreal that it’s over(at least the interview part).

lol glad that they didn't ask my husband the same question at our interview since I was standing right beside him. It'd probably have to do with how I complain that he turns the radiators in our apartment to zero instead of just down one level, haha. Funny response from you. Congrats, you two!

Hi! There are actually others who got theirs faster than us. Some even got theirs in two weeks! We weren't expecting it to be fast because there are some petitions who also take a long time even if they are from the Philippines. It was nice though.

We did it ourselves. VJ helped us a lot!

Aside from proof of meeting in person, we sent proof of ongoing relationship. We submitted copies of emails, Skype chat logs, FB screenshots, copies/pictures of letters and gifts, engagement ring receipt, and copies of communication(emails/FB messages) with his mom. We also sent a lot of pictures. I know the proof of ongoing relationship is not needed yet at that point, but we wanted the consul at US embassy to have them during the interview. He didn't ask me for anything because he had them in the packet. He browsed over them while asking me some questions.

It may be thick from the usual packet but not too much. I don't think it affected how fast we were approved. It made us feel better though and things were easier (in terms of organizing documents) for us after NOA2.

Are you the petitioner or the beneficiary? I wish my fiancé and I can travel to Vietnam some day. They also have good food. Hope you get your NOA2 soon!

I am not really sure if they are still expediting petitions from the Philippines. Also, I am not from the place affected by typhoon Yolanda. I understand that those are the cases being expedited. I don't know for what reason we were approved fast. Expedited or not, I am very thankful for it. Not all cases from the Philippines get fast approvals.

Thx u. i am the petitioner. I been to vietnam a couple of times already and yes they have great foods. Recommend eatting at those street vendors, they serve TRUE local foods and they are the best.
