No Indictment for New York Police

It happens regularly that white cops choke white people to death in the street, on video, and don't get indicted?

Your reply should be a lesson to all posters that people who reply most likely have NOT bothered to read the entire thread so that they become familiar with your position. If you go back to my OP, and all posts that followed you will find it.

But hey, let me summarize. It's my position that during the past several years that American law enforcement has been behaving more and more like a military attack unit. They break down doors, shoot dogs, wrestle people to the floor, and frequently overreact and cause harm. By the same token, there are many officers who are too tolerant in the face of criminals who are disrespectful and uncooperative.

Eric Garner, now deceased was NOT cooperating with what was first a very tolerant policeman. He was verbally placed under arrest and refused to cooperate and just wanted to be left alone. Even though he was a big man, a reasonable person (please look up the legal definition for reasonable person) would see no reason to force him to the ground and ignore him when he cried out: "I can't breathe!"

To prevent a police state in America, we NEED to keep law enforcement out of Washington's hands. Let the states and local municipalities handle their own problems, but do it according to already established law. We don't need new laws, but we do need all officers to be wired for video and sound. No exceptions.

Bad things are never done to white people by cops. White people are never falsely accused of shoplifting

Get with it

Ahhh, glad to see that no matter how much time I spend away from this place, I will always come back to you making imaginary arguments. It's comforting almost.

The video I watched show a choke hold for maybe 10 seconds tops. Once the guy was on the ground the cop held his head against the sidewalk, he was no longer in the choke hold. He was not being choked to death from what I saw.

did you watch the seven minute long video? that's the real good one. nypd at it's finest.

Maybe 15 seconds, and he wasn't in a choke hold when he started saying he couldn't breath. The physical exertion and stress probably caused the seizure. The cops got too physical from what I can see, but he is a very large man and he didn't allow the officer to cuff him.

No, it was a shorter one that showed the takedown. Do you have a link to the longer one? Edited by spookyturtle

I came up with about 9 seconds of whatever hold it was.

above.

and the cop only approached him because he recognized him from previous interactions. eric g. had broken up a fight just prior to the cop 'arresting' him.

So, according to you, the cop was picking on him, which gives you a feeling that when US citizens break the law, that they should have the right to negotiate with the police officer and explain the only reason they got caught breaking the law is because the officer had a bad attitude or was profiled?

That's a stretch even for the elastic Mr. Fantastic.

You should take your sunglasses fully off and then try watching the video one more time.

I just watched this video. I kept thinking, why isn't anyone doing CPR, there were a bunch of cops present. The question was answered at the end when a spectator asked why wasn't anyone doing CPR and the cop looked at him and said because he is breathing. The only other fault I find is keeping him in cuffs so long until the EMT's arrived, but I have no idea what the procedure is for that.

I don't see the cops choking or beating him to death. He seemed to be well know to the cops. He even said why are you always harassing me. Maybe he shouldn't have been arrested, but he didn't comply peacefully. He was taken down quick, but he was a big man and it was going to take a couple of cops to subdue him.
