Worried about evidence!

Due to some un-avoidable circumstances we don't have anything like a deed or lease with both of our names, nor do we have joint bank accounts (we've both been robbed by exes). So I am worried that we won't have enough evidence.

What we have:

Health insurance (only has his name on it, but lists a family member)

Car insurance (both names)

Taxes (both names)

Phone bill (should have both names)

Mail with same address

Pictures

No travel documents etc because we drive everywhere. Not sure how to get more evidence, and we've been trying everything. We HAVE to file in the next 2 weeks.

POD instructions on the bank accounts? Go get that, nowish, face to face at the bank.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Do you have vehicles with clear titles? You could transfer the title to both your names instead of just one of you. Depends on your state but maybe look into that?

Do you have ANY mixed finances? That is important evidence to be able to show. What about credit cards on the same account with both names listed? Anything like that?

Could you open a joint account? You don't have to make it your primary account but you could at least use one of the checks with both your names on it as a piece of evidence.

What about medical power of attorney?

No mixed finances at all, my income is too small to even bother with a bank. And with no credit score I can't get a credit card, or be added to one of his.

As for titles he won't let me add my name to his because his ex wife literally took everything he had and he won't risk it again. My vehicle is under my father's name.

What happens if we don't have enough evidence? Can we use testimonials from friends/family/coworkers?

If push comes to shove and you have to submit with limited evidence, do so, but continue to try to gather more in anticipation of an RFE. Worst case, you'll have some explaining to do at interview. They never deny without interview merely for weak evidence.

You don't have your own bank account?

You could open a PayPal account. Get the PayPal MasterCard debit card which simply uses your PayPal balance. And then add him to that as a second card-holder. Just a thought. But I guess you need to have money in the bank in order to put some funds into PayPal. Or have a bank account for that matter.

He could also add you to his credit card account and if really has such massive trust problems remove you later? I don't know. I think that unfortunate that he would not include you. How do you guys manage everything without being included on his stuff? What if something were to happen to him?

Pull together whatever you can and send it in. At least get it in on time so you don't miss your window. Then you can deal with their requests for more evidence when they come.

You can be added as an authorized user to a credit card without a credit score. I know, because I did it with two of them. The statements show each person's name and where they each used their card.

I don't know why you don't have at least a joint bank account though. Between my husband and I we have 7, 4 of them joint.

Employment benefits listing you as beneficiary. You listed as beneficiary on his bank accounts or as Darnell said pay upon death. Wills, health care power of attorney. My wife was not on the mortgage or Deed of our home and still is not. I have a signed and notorized Quit Claim Deed assigning the house to her that she is to present to the County Clerk if I whold die. She does not work, but she is on our checking account and credit card.

You can only submit what you have and let the chips fall where they may. Affidavits from family or friends might be a good idea in your case. Submit what you have and deal with any additional requests and prepare for an interview as the chances go up as the evidence goes down.

Good luck,

Dave

I never had and still don't have my name on any utilities, the house, or the truck. I am listed on the insurance, I'm listed as the beneficiary on life insurance policies, listed as next of kin/emergency contact on medical papers at the doctors and he is for me and the kids.

Pets? Vet bills in both names?

Drivers license that show you both are at the same address?

Any prescriptions he picked up for you payed with his debit card? Doctor visits he payed for?

I would NEVER have thought to get a joint bank account. No one I know has them, not a single person in my entire family. Parents have been married 45 years and still keep everything separate. They would have the same issues we are with evidence.

Our vet bills are under separate names, in separate files. My parents pay for whatever I can't afford, not my husband, so I have no bill evidence. And I have no prescriptions.

When we contacted the bank about adding me to his cards we were told no, I need a credit score to be added. My current credit score is listed as 0.

They make the evidence part really hard for those of us that don't have much.

banks easily set up POD instructions. must go in person, the two of you, to each bank and talk with one of the members of staff.

Vet bills work even if they're not in both names, they show the same address.
