As I go to vote at the local School today, there were signs posted in the parking lot that read- By parking here you agree to a search of your persons and car without consent etc etc or words to that effect.

Should we have to surrender our 4th amnd rights to vote.

I understand the reason at a school, but seems like a violation of our 4t amnd to me.

Guns and drugs don't belong on school property.

They should have voting at bars for people who want to smoke, drink, do drugs, carry a gun and vote at the same time.

I'd bet they were permanent signs intended only for students, so they wouldn't apply to voters coming to the polls. Students (being minors) don't enjoy the same Constitutional rights as grownups. Good info here: http://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_stud.html

They are permanent but it is an elementary school. Those students don't drive . I am sure I am not going to be searched, but it's the principal

Yeah: the "search of persons" part was definitely for the kiddies, and the "car" part was probably just boilerplate legalese cooked up by the school district's lawyer.

It's a somewhat rural setting. Nowhere to really park. 2 lane rural road turns into about a 1/4 mile driveway

I am not saying it's a major deal. but if someone should get searched without consent I am sure it would be

Come to think of it, having 1000's of strangers wander into an elementary school is probably not a great idea anyway. I saw no security that would have prevented someone from wandering into the classroom part

You wrote principal, but I think you meant principle. But since you were talking about a school, it could be either or both.
