Aren't you down there in Ebola country anymore Darnell?

Nah - I migrated south on 2 January. Ain't going back, no sir, and no how. There was a farm for sale north of the airport, but I've no interest in buying that anymore...

So this year, in school, here in God's Country... :D

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Look: you made a stupid misstatement. Own up to it and move on. We don't care enough about what you write to take it overly seriously anyway. <_<

Is this a word in your country?

I always like the royal 'we' responses, as if there's a whole audience of people eagerly waiting to see what the response is going to be.

If bringing patients here to treat makes sense to the medical community, I'm all for it. I'd rather listen to them than laymen who are more concerned with maligning a specific politician than finding solutions to actual problems. There's enough real suffering out there, without making it up.

Handwaving, emotional manipulation. Resting upon an assumption you made that is clearly wrong, just watching this administration operate.

First, can we talk in concrete epidemiological terms please? Here is a pro-forma county-level "Community Disease Containment Guide", a process in place already, just about everywhere in the USA:

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCEQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cidrap.umn.edu%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2Fpublic%2Fphp%2F238%2F238_operating_guide.doc&ei=gf9DVMnfIeeGigKLtYGIBQ&usg=AFQjCNFpUO2PMFPQsxakRifZh0TQc0H3gA&bvm=bv.77648437,d.cGE

That is an informational guide put out by the Universty of Minnesota Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy. Pro-forma means a template. Not every county and state have the same responsibilities and authorities, but public health is generally a state and county concern. These principles date all the way back to the Black Death in the middle ages. It is the government and media pretending it is some awful new thing humanity has never had to contend with before. It is a VERY old problem we dealt with often before the invention of vaccines.

Counties were the governments which quarantined. You froze people in their tracks. Nobody gets in without a quarantine on the way out. These protocols were violated and is why it spread to the USA. The same protocols were violated once the infected person got here.

Again: Step 1 is freeze infected people in place. You don't let them get on Cruise Ships and Airlines that have maximal exposure to others, and this is what we've done so far. This isn't an accident. The official state (USA) policy has been to endlessly bleet "don't panic" while violating basic quarantine protocol.

Middle Age Stupid.

Edit: The US military has an atrocious record of caring for its veterans. Appalling. Letting them die before admitting they are sick. Gulf War Syndrome: people exposed to chemical, biological, and depleted uranium ordinance. Burning enormous piles of ghastly contaminants spreading choking black clouds over our troops. This is who is in charge of quarantine? The people who will go decades before even admitting the troops are sick? To care for them too on top of the people they've already proven of no concern to them?

I didn't make any false statements. The Ebola virus has not entered into the US community. What is has done is infect 2 health care workers who were treating the patient. Treating Ebola patients is high risk even more so if your employer, for reasons that have nothing to do with the Ebola crisis, does not supply you with proper equipment. There is no risk for the wider community. It is not going to run rampant. You are crying wolf very loudly and ineffectually.

You are perfectly free to believe this and politicize a non political issue.

How exactly are these two health workers not an integral part of "the US community"?

They are in a specific high risk group, it wasn't caught via the general population, it's not circulating in the general population. When dealing with potential epidemics, these things matter. There is no epidemic, the virus is not circulating in the general population. It is highly unlikely that any other cases will now emerge and if they do they will inevitably be from a high risk subgroup directly in contact with the patients.

It becomes clearer what happened to the previous Ebola czar, Dr. Lurie:

There are a few interesting things about the scandal Lurie was embroiled in years ago. You can—and should—read all about it in the Los Angeles Times‘ excellent front-page expose from November 2011, headlined: “Cost, need questioned in $433-million smallpox drug deal: A company controlled by a longtime political donor gets a no-bid contract to supply an experimental remedy for a threat that may not exist.” This Forbespiece is also interesting.

The donor is billionaire Ron Perelman, who was controlling shareholder of Siga. He’s a huge Democratic donor but he also gets Republicans to play for his team, of course. Siga was under scrutiny even back in October 2010 when The Huffington Post reported that it had named labor leader Andy Stern to its board and “compensated him with stock options that would become dramatically more valuable if the company managed to win the contract it sought with HHS—an agency where Stern has deep connections, having helped lead the year-plus fight for health care reform as then head of the Service Employees International Union.”

The award was controversial from almost every angle—including disputes about need, efficacy, and extremely high costs. There were also complaints about awarding a company of its size and structure a small business award as well as the negotiations involved in granting the award. It was so controversial that even Democrats in tight election races were calling for investigations.

Last month, Siga filed for bankruptcy after it was found liable for breaching a licensing contract. The drug it’s been trying to develop, which was projected to have limited utility, has not really panned out—yet the feds have continued to give valuable funds to the company even though the law would permit them to recoup some of their costs or to simply stop any further funding.

The Los Angeles Times revealed that, during the fight over the grant, Lurie wrote to Siga’s chief executive, Dr. Eric A. Rose, to tell him that someone new would be taking over the negotiations with the company. She wrote, “I trust this will be satisfactory to you.” Later she denied that she’d had any contact with Rose regarding the contract, saying such contact would have been inappropriate.

They remain a part of the "US community" regardless. Your previous statement remains false.

That's what you got from what I said is it? The two health care workers are part of the wider US community? Fine, fit that into your narrative as to whether or not there's an epidemic in the US, there's not, by any stretch of the imagination a crisis is there?

Narrative? Nah man; you posted an untruth: that the disease had not spread into the US community (and you never said "wider").
