Seems they should just do away with the medical exam requirement for immigrant visas.

Just like the entire visa process, that's only meant for saps stupid enough to follow the rules. We don't need your (uh...our) kind.

It's a topsy-turvy upside-down O'bama world.

Dig: these are non-citizens. There are laws in place to prevent sick folks from coming to the US; they're there for a reason. More of the preznit's "pen & phone" lawlessness. <_<

And given the CDC head's testimony to Congress the other day, where he says "this needs to be stopped in Africa" (although apparently his concern strangely enough goes up to- but does not include flight bans), how does importing deathly ill and contagious people to our shores accomplish this?

There is a potentially serious crisis in West Africa. Preventing the spread of disease there will help substantially in preventing its spread outside of West Africa. Seemingly, actually doing something to prevent a realistic spread of the disease is less important to you than 'gubmint' bashing. Quel suprise!

You are not doing anything to prevent the spread of ebola in west Africa by allowing it to enter the United States

There is no Ebola emergency in the US.

"Remain calm!" he shrieked.

You want to waste tax dollars on fear mongering, go ahead and waste your own.

Haha. You are apparently unconcerned about he $7,000,000,000,000 in debt the preznit has added. That's a stack of $1,000 bills (laid flat!) 469 miles high. No fooling. I actually think that's far more panic-worthy than Ebola. You too, I'd guess from your comment. Right?

You haven't explained at all how importing deathly ill and contagious people to the US addresses this. How does this help exaclty?

Removing patients to facilities where they have a substantially increased chance of getting over the disease and recovering from it you mean? Yeah, I can't imagine how that might help. Added to which, the more people with the antibodies in their plasma to donate to other patients the better but no, can't do that, might be helping people who aren't US citizens and how could that possibly have any future benefit for good ol' US folks? Brain hurts, too hard.

There are a lot of things that should concern the US citizen over and above dying from Ebola. The economy and job market are indeed far more important as are about a million other issues.

You obviously don't understand what "quarantine" means. It's a lockdown in place, not a license to drag sick & contagious people around the world, giving the disease more chance to spread to a well population. That would be . . . stupid, especially in light of CDC's 'inexpertise' in the matter. But you're so compassionate; I bet you're at the airport right now, waiting for your flight to Liberia in order to help the sick folk. Am I right?

I imagine the preznit will be 'pivoting' right back to those 'priorities', right after he's done making a mess of this one.

Wanted: Ebola screeners at JFK for $19 an hour

They’re looking for the few, the proud — and the really desperate.
For a measly $19 an hour, a government contractor is offering applicants the opportunity to get up close and personal with potential Ebola patients at JFK Airport — including taking their temperatures.

Ebola hasn't spread into the US population, despite the opinion of hose who are subject to hysterical panic that drives a fringe dialogue on this issue. You may want to lock your doors and hide away, I prefer more pragmatic solutions. If bringing patients here to treat makes sense to the medical community, I'm all for it. I'd rather listen to them than laymen who are more concerned with maligning a specific politician than finding solutions to actual problems. There's enough real suffering out there, without making it up.

I bet you were one of the ones saying that there's no way for this to spread in the U.S. around September 28-30.

It hasn't. It's not spread anywhere. It will not spread into the wider community and we can ensure that it doesn't decimate West Africa and prevent a global problem if we wan to as well.

Agreed. The constant hysteria over this issue really is tiresome. These guys must get through several sets of underwear a day.

Wha...? Is this ignorance talking, or is this the left's ongoing "war on women", claiming those nurses somehow 'aren't people'. Either way, that's mighty backwards.

War on women eh? What's that when its at home?
