yeah the only civilized way to kill someone is to drop bombs from an airplane.

I'm just not sure of this idea that the US is morally obligated to do something here. It's a very murky situation, involving various sectarian groups that aren't well understood. It's also clear that the US involvement in the region hasn't really helped matters.

What's the objective here?

We are the only superpower left in the world, and the only nation with the capabilities to stop the type of bullying ISIS represents. However, the enemy is murky and the war asymmetrical, which means we need the help of the nations and groups in the area. We can't go it alone anymore because it is a campaign that requires more than just boots and ammo. We need intel and people working on the inside - we are looking for a needle in a needle stack...

Most US citizens agree with you. I don't believe the US has fought a war with a clear objective and a positive outcome since WW2.
