I'm sure that's a question a lot of people want an answer to. Seems the doctor explained why that's not a good idea, and would do more harm than good. I'm still wondering what's the big deal here?

There's no big deal, but I don't think it's a coincidence that the news is full of hyperbole and doomsaying and that threads on this site are posted in which people seem to seriously believe that they are at risk of a major outbreak of this disease within the continental USA.

There's clearly a direct connection between what is discussed in the media about ebola and the talking points that emerge here.

What we have is a lot of fear mongering and no actual facts. You can say that there's no significant risk of a epidemic of cases in the US, scientists can and have said and explained why. Some people just prefer being angry and afraid.

I have a friend who is from Tajikistan . Her parents live in israel , They are of the Behai faith. She flew to Jordan for a few days and wanted to visit her parents. Israel would not let her depart the plane. The reason was she had entered Jordan . This is the way they controled terrorist threats at the time. Perhaps still do.

Anyone that has visited a high risk ebola country we should do the same. Quarantine americans that return from these countries until deemed safe. Refuse entry to non citizen travelers. until this has ended.

When you close off a a country you create fear..... Wow. The fear is there already. . He claims that no one will come if they understand they were sick. .. Right .They will come her because they want the care that will save their life. Care they cannot get in their homeland today

I agree with you for the most part, except I'd add an international element to it. This is an international problem. This is not just West Africa's problem. We (the international community, including the U.S.) need to be in West African airports and land borders, ensuring infected people don't get out. We (the international community, including the U.S.) need to be in West African cities running clinics and administering drugs to the infected.

We can build a wall around ourselves and go la-la-la-la until the threat reaches our walls or we can go there and nip this in the bud.
