hey guys,

Me and my girl-friend going to apply for the DV-2016, we plan to apply separately. Since we are not legally married now (at this point of time for DV-2016 entry submission), do we need to put each other's name in the "spouse-dependant"?

We plan to get married next year (2015). Knowing that the result for DV-2016 lottery will be announced on May-2015, do we need to get married before May-2015 in order get her a VISA (as dependant) ?

Please read the rules. If you are not married you are not spouses...

And no you just need to get married before interview. Expect to have to prove its a bona fide relationship if that happens.

@ alesi616, since you both are not married then you should apply differently with your real name.

2. You can get married after the application but make sure you guys get married legally before you submit fill the DS 260 online that is if you are selected as a winner.

3. Do not add her as your spouse in the application as you are not yet married. This is also applicable to her.

4. If selected as a winner and your case number is lower then you must be fast in your marriage plans.

5. Anyone who wins can now add the spouse as a beneficiary.

Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the reply from Nkkystel and SusieQQQ. That clear my doubts.

And for the DS260, when is the submission date (assuming one gets selected as a winner) ? Is it between May-2015 till Oct-2015 ?

You can submit the DS260 before marriage and update it later. I would do it that way if the case number was low.

Submission is technically anytime before end of FY2016 but it can take them a couple of months to process applications and they schedule interviews a couple of months in advance, I wouldn't leave it later than April 2016 at the absolute latest.

those are the instructions for dv lottery, but there is no mention to the fact that a selectee of dv2015 can apply for dv2016...

It also doesn't mention that a selectee can become a plumber, but that is possible (as is a DV2015 selectee applying for DV2016).
