A fence like that solves the problem, yes? Odd, then, that we have all these minors from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras coming through Mexico into the US. You get that? They make it past the pictured fence on Mexico's southern border. But you want to believe that they wouldn't make it past such fence if it stood on Mexico's northern border. Why exactly would you believe that? Why would anyone believe that?

They bribe the border guards (or rather pay the guy that pays the bribe) and others follow the official Mexican policy of allowing central Americans passage through the country as long as they head straight to the US by giving them three day passes. That's how they solved the impending "refugee" crisis from happening on their border - they exported it. Nice people.

Bottom line, the fence doesn't work. People get past it. And they always will.

Maybe we should all remove the firewalls on our networks too. After all, successful exploits have yet to be eliminated.

Oh, and let's remove all firearms laws as well because somewhere, you just know a thug still has one.

Nice try but ineffective. I have no issue with effective measures to control migration - I am very much in favor of it. When looking at fences and walls, however, we just need to be sure that we understand that they can accomplish only so much. They certainyl won't solve the problem that their proponents profess they want to solve.

Specifically, the very fence presented here in this thread certainly isn't keeping migrants at bay. If it did, they could not be showing up on our southern border - after having gotten past the fence that supposedly would keep them at bay.

That is good thinking on their part, maybe we could offer the same 3 day pass through the US to Canada and then get to listen to the Canadians moan about their social service programs being consumed by illegal immigrants.

It is obvious that everyone knows the fence is a ludicrous idea that would never work, so long as there are people manufacturing ladders.

However, GnOP konws it makes for good swill which to feed the fringes of their constituency.

A red herring, by any other name...

No, there isn't. But that doesn't mean that we need to buy into the mighty expensive blank that would be the equivalent of the fence that the nutters are dreaming about.
