So guys, I have a question. I was filling up my I-134 form and I was at question number 1 I think wherein they were asking about how i derived my citizenship. I came here in America when I was 16 therefore that makes me a minor so I was automatically became a US citizen because my dad is a US Citizen (Naturalized to be specific). We dint apply for Certificate of Naturalization instead I applied for a Blue passport because it's way cheaper. I was able to file my K1 visa by just giving them a copy of my passport to prove that I am a US Citizen. Now the question here is, how will I answer the question of how i derived my citizenship? Is it the one through my parents? but they are asking for a "citizenship number" and all i have is my dad's "naturalization number". From what I read, both are completely different. Again, I'm confused. Thanks in advance for replying.

Only adults over 18 can be naturalized, so you received citizenship through your parents. So check parents. You should have also received a certificate of citizenship (as opposed to certificate of naturalization if you were naturalized). The certificate will also have a number on there. You can google what such a paper looks like!

I have my dad's naturalization number and I don't have a certificate either. That's why I'm wondering if I could use that instead.

My then-fiance just wrote NONE on the Certificate of Citizenship number field, and just presented a copy of his passport as proof of citizenship. The embassy (in Tokyo) just accepted it.

If you want to cover all the bases, you can write a letter explaining what you just told us.

Put 'None' for the certificate number on the I-134. You gained citizenship through your parent and did not get a certificate of citizenship, so you do not have a certificate number. You can also put, 'No certificate - US passport# XXXXXX'
