When hubby and I were just "flirting" online,I was always the one who calls him, thanks to sun postpaid. My bill was always at least 4k pesos but I never gave in to his offer to help and told him to just save the money for his plane ticket.I had a decent job then and accepting money from him would make me feel like "a user" (that's just me) and would take my identity away plus I wanted him to realize that I am so serious (not desperate) about us that i want to make it work.Takes two to tango. It apparently impressed him that he married me haha.Independent women raise yer hands please!Lol Happily married now and been "a thing" for over 2 years.

I'm a pilipina it's funny but some stories are true lol..I have a co worker he meet someone in facebook a Filipina lady. The guy(my co-worker) has a big smile/excited every time he talks about her.I can tell the way he talks act so I told her to slow down and get to know each other well he said yes I will..

Later 2,3,4,5days we talked again about her. I think his comfortable talking to me because I'm Filipina and her girlfriend is Filipina I guess :)...he told me her girlfriend Filipina is working and has a son to support with and I said okey I advice him to know her very well again my co worker says okey and thank u for ur advice.. Next day again we talked and told me his girlfriend ask her money lol to help out bills LoL and I said to him it's all up to u first thing she has job 2nd thing that's not his son for him to support but I told him it's up to you.. Next day he told me he send funds lol I said cool..after that we never talk until a month he told me they broke up LoL poor guy :( I knew it......so guys with g.f filipina it's not bad to send money but be wise know her well coz some think American guys are atm or own a bank lol especially if you haven't meet her lol...don't be hopeless there's still good Filipina somewhere just be wise so your not out of luck and left broke lol...good luck.!

Im a filipina...me and my husband mer in kuwait dated for one month yhen my contract finished and I didnt renew it so I went home in the philippines. We continued chatting..I never ask money from him. Never. He decided to visit me in the philippines .. I booked a hotel in Boracay..a flight in cebu pacific for a three day vacation with my own money. He visited and we decided to get married. We live in kuwait together..still not asking money from him. He will juat give me money if I need to go to the store and buy groceries. Sometimes its a problem to me because im not working anymore and I also have things I need to buy . One time we talked..he told me he will be in control of giving me monet because of what he heard in other americans having a filipina wife...they asked too much that even the neighbor is sick and ask money for it. His contract in kuwait ended and we had just file our visa that time..worst thing happened I went back to philippines and he went home to US. He need to find a job for our visa application. Yes until now he's in control of giving me money..500usd a month with a 2 year old son. My husband is sweet caring . He just heard a lot of stories about filipina asking too much money. I didnt ask for money even the 500usd is not enough for me and my son. I want to prove that im not yhe "typical filipina" as what other american say. We both love each other I know that...I just need to earn his trust and erased what is being told to him by his fellow americans in kuwait. I am a nurse

I love these great posts, these from the Filipinas here .... my Asawa would not take money, did not ask for money, heck she refused to quit her job even after the interview... and I was there in the Phils with her.... yet off she went to work.

My fiance never sent me money before we met and I never asked also. The first time he sent money was after we met and it was for a charity work (Yolanda victims) that I was volunteering. Then he also send during special occassions. Then after we got engaged, I observed he keeps sending me during his payday. He said he wants me to have some treats and my son. But I never asked money, he just voluntarily give it.

To the OP, maybe she is really that poor. Maybe, the Filipinas who commented here including me are lucky to have jobs that could support not just our daily needs. I hope she is telling the truth and not take advantage of you. Just trust your feeling.

I have previously posted about the beginning of my visa journey. My next quesition is involving financial help for my online girlfriend. As everyone here knows, filipinas are very poor. Simple things that we take for granted are luxuries in the phils.

My question is how to determine if you are being taken for a ride. My situation is as follows: my girlfriend use to pay at an Internet cafe to talk to me. She was regular, and still is, as a Swiss watch when keeping in contact with me. When we became "serious" I bought her a smart bro pocket wifi that she uses with her phone. We basically viber and skype when I am not sleeping or working, which is quite a few hours a day. That was $65. Last week I paid her breakage rent for $35.

Today, she dropped her ph

1. Does she works?

2. Does she ask for money?

3. How long have you been together?

What do you mean she dropped her ph?

VIber can be included on her phone subscription unlimited text for globe subscribers if I am not mistaken it is just 20php per day, which is around $.50.

If she has a smart phone she can just get the monthy smart bro sim card for $1000 unlimited internet usage.

Or you can just subscribe her to Globe duo where she would get a virtual US phone number that you can call unlimited.

Filipinas can be poor but they need to work to help themselves. Don't let her just depend on you financially.

It's ok to help her once in a while but don't let her just sit and wait for your money, unless you are the kind of guy who just like their gf/fiancee at home and ready to talk to you.

Try to test her too. Do not mention much of you bringing her here, instead tell her you want to move there. Check if she will change.

I hit the post button and then I tried to edit but it became a second post which was removed by admin. The good news is her viber and skype is working again. I guess we were both panicking because talking to each other all the time is something I look forward to and so does she. She works 6 days a week as a dental assistant for about 5000 pesos a month. The money is not a lot for me but I was burned once before. As everyone knows, we all get jaded as we get older. A little about me: I am 42, never married and no kids. She is 23, never married no kids. But only time will tell. I guess in the big scheme of things a couple of hundred is no money

Stay true to yourself. Trust your instincts.

My Asawa worked 6 days a week also, it is a tough life, something to be admired - those that persist and endure.

You could very well have someone to treasure... a little "help" from time to time is different then being treated like an ATM.

P5,000 is tough to live on. Like said stay true to yourself and trust your instincts.

OP,

One way to possibly determine if you're being taken for a ride is to simply trust your intuition.

My only input is that when I was still courting my now asawa, she was blunt and to the point saying that she didn't want any assistance from me; monetarily or otherwise. She said that she survived before we met and she would continue to.

^This. I never asked or accepted money from my husband. And I never asked how much his salary was. Basically, if she suddenly gets sick a lot, or loses things easily, or gets robbed most of the time, or has relatives who are dropping like flies, she is using you for money.

I'm a Filipina, were engaged for 7 months now and almost close our distance but I never ask any cents from my fiance, in fact I paid my Visa fee on my own. There are lot's of Filipina here who have a job and don't depend to their fiance financially, internet is quite common here. Almost every house have Wi-Fi even here in the province.

I suggest you let Her have own internet at home with a very good deal offer. She can have 24 hours connection and safe at home. Goodluck

Never asked for money from my now husband when we were still dating online (before we met in person) and there were times when he would fall on hard times and I was the one who sent him money.

I'm not rich but I try to work hard. There are still some "poor" Filipinas who won't rely on scoring a foreign spouse to better their lives.
