we just got our joint sponsor's IRS transcript, but it's surprised to know that her total income on the transcript is only $9,607, doesn't reach the poverty guideline, but she has much assets ans bonds, can she still be our joint sponsor?(she is 84 years old)

The income that matters is what she is currently receiving, not what she made last year. Is she still making that amount?

Also if she doesn't meet the income requirements, she can still qualify as a sponsor, but her assets need to be 5 times the difference of the amount required and what she makes. So assuming that she's a one person household plus your spouse, it would be 2 people, which means she has to make at least $18,212, more if there others in her household.

So if she is making $9,607, the difference would be $8,605. Therefore, she would have to have at least $43,025 in assets that can be converted into cash within one year without considerable harm or financial loss to her.

This does not constitute legal advice.

Sorry, you're right. I was looking at an older version of the I-864P. I googled it and didn't notice the year on it.

Poverty guidelines for a household of two = $19,662. She is short $10,055 and would need a bare minimum of $50,275 in assets.

This does not constitute legal advice.
