Live there all life. Lived in Korea twice. Now back in Philippines.

Have Korean Police Certificate. Do we need Philippines Certificate?

Yes I have. I saw mostly CR-1 applicants have gotten the Police Certificate. I have gotten mixed answers for the K-1 applicant.

Also on the Manila Embassy Packet 3 it states "Other Police Certificates" is a requirement so this would lead me to believe it is not required for Filipino nationals, but "Other" countries.

So I am asking. Do you know?

You said she has lived in the Philippines all her life. So why wouldn't the certificate be required from the country she has lived in all her life?

Because from the Embassy itself on their Packet 3 it says "Other" Police Certificates which lead me to believe not including the home country.

Also what lead me to believe it even more was that an NBI we have already, which to me looks like it has pretty similar information as that of a Police Certificate.

BUT we are just asking.

Needless to say, we are getting the Police Certificate anyways because that is just how we do things. We are always 110% ready no matter what. But would still like to know a for sure answer for a peace of mind.

yes she will need it - and yes the NBI is what she needs.

While the guides are good, they are only a rough guide. You really need to review the documentation at both travel.state.gov and uscis.gov as well. From http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html#6

Oh yes we saw that! Just all the talk about "Every embassy has different requirements" talk I guess has made us look into it too muchhhh lol.

But glad to know the answer for peace of mind. We are still going to get the Police Certificate either way

Yes, better safe and having them all rather than finding out you need one at the interview. My fiancée will need to get them from Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore, we've already talked about that. We just have to wait for NOA2 and the embassy to get the petition and send out the checklist before she can request them (at least the HK and SGP certs)

It just kind of got to us because we finally decided to make sure we had everything (as if we were going to Interview) and we kinda just questioned it ourselves like "oh wow, one step away and our Interview is a couple weeks away"

Because we thought we had been ready, just was waiting for a few things which we got.

e. OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present

police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching the

age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names,

aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of

those names. Country-specific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State

Department’s website at http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html.%C2'>

The "NBI clearance" is the local Philippines police certificate whereas the "other country police certificates" is only applicable if she lived outside Philippines for 6 months or more. In your fiancee's case, she will need one from South Korea if she did stay there that long.

You are a Philippine citizen so you need an NBI for TRAVEL ABROAD (green version), not a police certificate. For Korea you have that covered.

Follow the Embassy Instructions Letter, use it as your checklist for what is needed for the interview!

Truly a waste of time getting a local police certificate. Just get the NBI as required by the embassy instructions letter.

There are no surprises with what is required, it IS all listed in the embassy instructions letter.
