Voice in k1 visa package

Hello,

I am currently preparing the K1 visa package which contained I-129f and front loaded evidence of our ongoing relationship.

I have a quick question,

Should the voice I use in the proof of ongoing relationship be the voice of the petitioner? eg (My fiance and I met at blah blah blah) Or can we use a third person voice like Kris and Nicole met at blah bla blah?

Hi!

When I wrote my letter I did it in my first person voice, I, me, we. I think it's more personal that way and the I-129F is really a petitioner's application, so it would make sense. All of the letters I drew up for ours were in that style. We haven't had an approval yet so I can't say whether it's right or wrong, but I would say that they'd rather see it in a personal style.

We wrote everything in third person and everything went fine, visa arrived today. I don't think it matters all that much.

Ours is first person too. Although on our I-129f, we used a lawyer who suggested third person voice in referring to the petitioner and beneficiary. We followed how we wanted the forms to be answered anyway.

First person since you are describing yourselves and have intimate knowledge. Writing in the third person may tend to make one think you are making up a story.

We used third person present tense when describing how we met and ongoing relationship, but I doubt that matters. In fact, many will argue it's not even necessary to include more than a one line snippet of how you first met. I just wanted to include everything in the original petition for my own peace of mind. And then we provided a supplement of evidence for each time we met in person (receipts, boarding passes, statement, pictures, etc.) Our petition was approved within a month of submission and our visa was just issued.

I attached some samples of what we did (some details omitted of course)- again not saying this is right or wrong or that anyone should do it this way, but its what we did and it worked for us. Everyone has their own way of doing things, but it might give you some ideas.

We used first person, and we both signed the addendum to I 129F. I think it's question 34a. We had all our docs reviewed by an immigration lawyer and he said that was fine.

I don't think there is one way to do it. As long as it is consistent, that's all that really matters.

From readin everyone's comments it looks like either way will do, but from personal experience I would use first person. We got our petition approved using first person and it give it a more personal feel and your sharing your story of you and your love. Good luck.

Good luck. Try to make a little fun game out of it. Write the story on what you can remember on how you guys met and have your fiance do the same thing and see if it all matches up. Should be fun and bring up many memories!
