When does NVC forward cases to the embassy?

Hello,

Our case was complete at the NVC on March 13, 2014. Got an email saying it was waiting for an interview to be scheduled. It has been 4 months and we have heard nothing. CEAC still says at NVC. Does the NVC forward the case before an interview appointment can be made? Or does it sit at the NVC while you wait for it? I'm getting worried that something has gone wrong.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I may be mistaken, but I think the wait times for Egypt are extremely long...maybe 6 months for an interview. Check out the August interview thread.

U can call to NVC. and then they will tell you when they send the package to ur fiance's country.

according the date, you can track down the package on DHL, and then you can be able to know if the case arrived the embassy yet.

then if it arrived, you can call up the embassy and question more details.

Hope it goes well for you two!! good luck!!!

Sorry to be the bad news person but Egypt is a 6 to 8 month wait, after Case Complete. The January Case Completes just got August dates. So possibly you are looking at November interview time.

Once you get interview then your petition goes to the embassy.

What I would suggest because others from your embassy have done with success is request an expedite. Can't hurt and you may get it.

Talk to jacqueline6001 she refused to take no. They kept asking and asking and asking after every NO they finally got a yes and got a July interview.

See the spreadsheet for more details

Thanks for all the replies. We are married, just to clarify.

We got an expedite for USCIS. But were denied at the embassy for an expedite on his interview.

I called the NVC and they told me our case was complete and just waiting for an interview. If the wait is 6-8 months, why are people I know doing K1 instead of the IR1-CR1 getting interview days faster?

It still a wait for K1's maybe 4 to 5 months but if you look at the wait its still very long for them. Everyone I have been following K1 or otherwise getting interview under 4 months is an expedite. Sorry.

And no matter the embassy K1's always get interviews sooner they have less processing then we do. From NOA1 to interview is less than 8 months for most.

It basically just sucks for all of us. It does make sense that K1s are processed faster though.

I guess we shall gear up for another 4 months and hope we may get it sooner!

Egypt is special. Been that way for almost a year now, a delay at NVC after case complete.

When Egypt IV releases interview slots to NVC, well, the case will get set for an appointment.

Currently, you are in a queue for scheduling - there are others before you.

Relax, be patient - there is nothing to do to counter the civil unrest there that caused the IV Unit to close.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Hey girl. Here is the email address I use consularcairoiv@state.gov <-----------Is that the same one you use? I would keep bugging them a bit :D According to my timeline, we only waited 173 days for our interview compared to some I have seen over 400 days.

Nevermind. Just noticed you said NVC STILL has your case. Why in the world is that????????? Ours was forwarded FAST from NVC to Embassy. Who knows I guess. This whole process is weird and every case different

I called and talked to them. They told me to expect a long wait and it will stay at the NVC until the interview is scheduled. I think K1 visas are handled differently than the IR-1s.

They are a IR1/CR1 they stay at NVC until Interview is scheduled.

OP 170 to 186 is the normal wait time from Case Complete to Interview.

I would be contacting NVC and request that expedite. Soonest.

Great ! I'm hoping you are understand more about WHY there is a lag for Cairo-bound casefiles.

I completely understand why there is a backlog. I have been there during major civil unrest. I know the embassy gets closed a lot.

People saying to request an expedite, we already did that and the embassy denied our request when we first got to the NVC. What grounds do I have to request another?
