Hi,

I recently submitted my I-485 following my marriage in May on a K1 visa and the USCIS Case Status page now states:

"Your case is being processed at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you."

My understanding was that only Employment based I-485s or those relating to refugee status or those seeking asylum would be processed by Nebraska. My husband is active duty military, could this be a reason why it has been transferred to a place other than our local office? Also because it states 'you will be notified by mail when a decision is made' does this mean I will not have to attend an interview? I'm aware I would still have to attend a biometrics appointment and this seems to be proceeding off the back of the I-765 submission I made at the same time.

Anyone else experienced this scenario? I've never heard of this happening before so would appreciate any thoughts!

So I actually spent 2 hours yesterday on hold to speak with an immigration officer about our status changing from the National Benefits Center to Nebraska Service Center. She was able to confirm that

I am adjusting from F1 visa overstay and my I-485 was transferred to Nebraska Service Center and my case status online is the same as yours. I've read they do this to help with work overload.

I have heard of a few people now being transferred to Nebraska. It must be a workload issue that they have just started and not even announced on their site yet.

Hi, I actually posted this on the wrong forum and there is now a topic in the AOS forum specifically. I had a few replies stating that others cases have also been sent to Nebraska and that it is just a way of them managing the workload by using other service centres to process it. Seems to be perfectly normal. :)

Good to have a heads up on this. We sent in our AOS packet and it was received on May 21. Still no acknowledgement though, no NOA, no cashed check, etc. Blah. 12 working days and counting.... Growing anxious but this rested my mind slightly if there is a workload issue happening.

Corey&Guyvens, did you already get a case number via email or text message? If so visit the USCIS case status website and it should tell you how your case is proceeding. My cheque was cashed 5 days after they received my packet so seems odd yours hasn't been yet?!

We haven't heard anything. Is the case # the same from our initial K-1 app (receipt #)? I have our receipt # from the K-1 petition and I check the website using that but nothing yet. I think it's odd as well and am hoping today or tomorrow something will happen. Grrrr

Our AOS was being processed at the National Benefits Center. We got RFE and I quickly sent the requested evidence. I received notification that on May 21 the National Benefits Center had received my RFE response. A few days later, while checking our case status through the USCIS website, like I do every second of the day :rofl: , it had been updated to indicate that our RFE response had been received by the Nebraska Service Center. I did not get sms or email about this change, just came accross it and no word yet. :clock:

Our package was sent on May 14th, USPS said it got there on the 16th and just yesterday we got the three emails and text messages!!

Our package was also forwarded to Nebraska
