MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A real gun was found in the toy aisle of Target on Seaboard Street. The police report states a loss prevention worker stumbled upon the gun Friday night.

The gun was in plain view on top of a superhero Playskool toy box when the worker found it; he thought it was a toy. He realized it was real after seeing it was loaded with live ammo.

...

Fletcher Armstrong III, a Concealed Weapons Permit instructor with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, explains it is never too early to start talking gun safety with children.

He narrows it down into four easy-to-understand steps: "If a child comes across a gun they should follow four steps: Stop. Don't touch. Leave the area, and tell an adult."

The police report mentions there was a suspicious male walking up and down each toy aisle, including the aisle the gun was found. Target will be releasing that surveillance video to police.

...

Shoppers say they are thankful the gun was found before a child mistook it for a toy.

My dad was in the pull down pants club.

I am sure you did not mean that like it looks

This has nothing to do with gun aficionados. A statement like this paints all gun owners with a wide brush and is wrong.

Do you think a responsible gun owner takes a gun to the Toy department of Target and leaves it there? I don't.

Of course not. But it's ok to make fun of gun owners and yet get angry about comments concerning angry female posters. It depends who is being made fun of whether it is ok or not. I believe you said something like that about a comment I made a week or two ago.

Do you really not understand this at all?

Gun owners make choices by their actions. I do not lump all gun owners together. I do have a problem with current gun culture, and I think that responsible gun owners should be fighting against this as well. I see many normal gun owners who have a problem with it too.

If you think my joke is anything similar to saying that women are b•tches, women, who have no choice in their gender, who are born female and do not have a choice in the matter, than I am not sure what to say.

I thought you were smarter than that.

It is one thing to make fun of an idea, or a behavior that exhibits that idea. It is entirely another to make fun of someone for their gender, their race, their sexual orientation. One is a choice, the other is not.

The conflation of these sort of things is a real problem that we face today.

You say you want this forum to be fun, but you seem to bring up old boring issues that no one likes, often. You say you want no drama, but you are bringing up drama, all the time.

Funny thing is, I see it as you not understanding it. I still have the original Cheerios post since it was a reply to one of my post. The "b" word wasn't used in the post. The post that caused the controversy meant the same thing as saying someone got up on the wrong side of the bed. That's it. You paraphrased that post, inserted the "b" word and that was ok, because it was satire, even though it changed the meaning of the post. Most people didn't get to read the original post as it was quickly whisked away even though it didn't violate TOS. And to boot, the person who posted the Cheerios comment can't even respond to your paraphrase of his comment to clarify it, and I'll leave it at that. And no, he didn't get suspended or in trouble for the comment.

He wasn't making fun of anyone for their gender. He was commenting on an attitude prevalent in many posts, just like people comment on the attitude of the pro gun crowd, anti gun crowd, anti black, anti Christian, etc. This was about one thing, negative attitude, not gender. All the +1's on that post were from men, all the +1's on your paraphrase were from women. The men weren't offended and took it for what it was, some people were posting like they were always in a bad mood. The female side took it an insult against women. See how that went? There are posters of both sexes here who have a bad attitude according to many people here. So pointing that out was offensive, yet making fun of someone else for something different is ok, because according to yours standards, it's "not as bad as" something someone else said.

I brought up the issue because it wasn't settled nor was the OP permitted to attempt to settle it. Of course you find it boring, you chose not to see the other side of it. I'm not riding the white horse pretending that I'm without fault and denying that I too post post to stir the pot. I can admit it, can you? And how about this, I'm not upset or angry with you and have no intention of any harm by bringing this up. I am not insulting you in these posts. I'm just trying to clarify things. As you said, maybe I'm not smart enough to see things as you do. If no one likes the issues I bring up, I would appreciate them letting me know. Teddy didn't like my signature so I changed it. If you don't like the new one, I'll change it. If everyone hates sigs, I'll can it. How's that?

Also, please give me some examples of the boring issues that I bring up so often that nobody likes. Ditto for the drama I post. I'm a big boy and I can take constructive criticism. Feel free to post it here or via pm. Those who pm with me can vouch for my keeping things told to me in private confidential. This is an invitation to all, not just Harpa. Don't be bashful.
