Hello Dear VJers,

My fiancee arrived in the US on March 3rd after filing for K1. After 2 weeks, we went to the SSA to require a SSCard and we were told that we need a marriage certificate. We then waited couple months and got the certificate done after a short ceremony at the local Justice Center. We went back to SSA and they said that we need I-94 along with the Marriage Certificate in order to apply for the SSCard. We went to the Govn Center and they gave us this website (www.cbp.gov/I-94) to retrieve her I-94 number and print out the I-94 card. We rushed on the website and couldn't find any of her credentials. Could you please help us? Any suggestions will be really really appreciate!!!

Thank you and Good Luck to all of you.

God Bless

We had trouble retrieving an I-94 form, so we went to the I-94 site and used the number they listed when you can't find it. I called, and the man whom I called told me he would work on it. Good thing we did...they only had the first letter of my husband's name and out of his other four names they listed 3 with two letters of the 4th name. I don't know if you have to type it exactly as they entered it into the system, but I know we would not have been able to find it. My husband entered through Detroit, and they didn't give him any paperwork that showed what his name would be on the I-94, so it was a small headache. Hope you can find yours soon!

On your first visit, you were given wrong information by the SSA employee that looked at your then-fiance's credentials. A K-1 visa holder can apply for a SSN even before getting married. Anyway, can you try entering your fiance's info here: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html

You need to have at least 15 days left in the I-94 validity so SSA can accept your husband's application.

You did not need to be married to get an SSN, and waiting has probably made you need to wait until you file for AOS and get your EAD.

Haha.. You're welcome. Don't worry too much about it. It's only been barely 3 months. Stay positive!
