I am not seeing into your relationship, but if things fail with your application, is there a way for your loved one to move to England and live with you there? I mean England is not a place where conditions are harsh, and people barely stay alive. If he/she loves you, you guys can make it work. Anyway, in case you get a year ban, you should not think that's long. About 5 years ago this was considered a life time ban even if it was a one time thing. Plus, they might going to highly value your honestly and will see you are definitely not a drug smuggler, or abuser and you might as well just get your application approved. All the best!

I met a guy on the day of my visa interview. He told me that it was his second interview because he failed on his first one based on his admittance drug use when he was in college out of curiosity. It was over 6 years ago when he had his first interview. I guess it is case to case basis. But keep your hopes up. He passed his second interview. He even cried in front of the consul.

Thanks for everyone's input. You have all made my day better with your wishes and positive attitude.

I am trying to be positive too, but I am actually terrified at the prospect of a 1 year ban. The money and tedious paperwork does not concern me. Not being able to see my fiancé, and having a label such as a drug addict/abuser is something I do not want to be branded as. I know when it comes to any Embassy paperwork, the CO can pull a file of something bad and disregard all the other documents we so carefully prepared. To put things into perspective as long as I do not get a life ban I should live.

Takes a lifetime to gain ones respect and a second to lose it, the way I was questioned, I really thought I would be innocent in my response, now I face the possibility of being denied. I almost feel like a criminal. AnotherLostSoul, I hope you are right, and I am indeed not scrutinized too heavily for my past.
You often hear the cliché of paying for your past, and I guess this is just the cruel way it was meant to be.

My fiancé is actually a teacher, she loves and teaches children who are between ages of 6-7. So lets say she caters for the future generation of children. Its one thing that I really love about her. Well apart from when she brings her teacher mentality home, that's not so good.

Well, she praised me for being honest. Ultimately she was gutted as well, because we have a nervous wait till our results. She pointed out that she doesn't care what other people say, she trusts me and knows any recreational drugs were totally a thing of the past. She insisted she wouldn't be with me if I wasn't a truthful honest hard worker, and collectively we do not use drugs. She is actually a health freak.

The idea of her moving here is something we will consider once my results are found.

I will keep you posted.

If anyone has any other input, it would be great to hear from you.

OP, I feel bad for the predicament you're in. You have been honest, yet face being potentially punished for your honesty. All over a mistake you made a long time ago, that they wouldn't have otherwise known about had you not been so forthcoming. At the same time, dishonest people get though and go unpunished.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Keep us posted!

Did you check NO on the form and then tell the doctor YES?

I checked NO initially.

She probed on if I had ever tried any form of drugs, I said yes. She asked how many times. As I said I had done it a multiple times 7 years ago (not once which would have counted as experimental I guess), she checked YES and proceeded to right notes at the bottom of the page. She said thanks for being honest. But I had a horrible feeling from reading her body language and what she said, which was all true and relevant.

I tried explaining to justifty my case, but had the feeling it was falling on deaf ears. I said I am open to the urine sample as I have nothing to find. She said you'd be suprised what we find in peoples Urine, indirectly suggesting she thought I may still be doing it. She gave me another opportunity to come clean to add to the notes, and I just said, maam I really have nothing to hide, I've told you my history.

Like you said A1422, maybe if it was once, I could have had a fair trial. Because I said it was multiple times I kind of put myself in further trouble.

She asked if I used to do it a lot by myself and how much. I said it would depend on friends by the large part. I never done it alone. I said I dropped the habit when I started working and said most of my former friends still do it. Guess I had to make myself seem like a good samaratin after the grilling she gave me!

Hi S-C, thanks for joining this thread. I share your sentiment regarding the system not promoting honesty.

In retrospect of my medical events, I really walked in with a lot of confidence, and left with none..

I work everyday, and love cycling. I thought medically, this would be a walk in the park. I thought my recreational drug use in my 'past' life was of nominal importance. Because I have a pretty laid back attitude I didn't do any research in respect to past medicals, and the question on drugs (it is literally of no importance to my life so why would I research it!!!!).

In hindsight I wish I did, I would have been better prepared, but I probably would have still given the same answers, and probably got the same results.

Drug abuse or addiction in the eyes of the embassy is something I took very very lightly. Hence why I literally cried out "there is no way you can tick I am a drug abuser" to the doctor. I had marked a X on "no" prior them asking from the questionnaire..

Anyway its in their hands now, and the panel of physicians, they are going to mould my foreseeable future based on a medical interview that lasted less then 10 minutes. Praying for some leniency.

I hope my story is a lesson to anyone going through the same experience as me. Good Luck.

I for one am thankful to you for sharing your story so that others may learn. I had no idea they were that strict on past use and your topic has caused me to do a lot more research in total concerning the medical. So, again, thank you for that. I feel for you and your fiance and cannot imagine your heartache as you wait to find out what they decide. But if there is any justice/fairness, they will let you have the visa. Best of luck.

Thanks I will certainly keep everyone posted.

I do not know when my interview will be yet, I guess it takes a few weeks after a medical. I still haven't recieved a packet, or payed the fee's. I have just been using this site, and the http://london.usembassy.gov website for guidelines.

Medical people said they would call me next week to let me know the results are in.
I do not know if they pass the results to me or straight forward to the Embassy.

I just want to hear the news as soon as possible. If the medical people tell me the results it would be better than waiting an additional couple of weeks and going to the interview and finding out from the officer.

The doctors at Knightsbridge tell you the worst case scenario. They scared me too in April about my results coming back negative and that I would not travel to the US but somehow it all worked out for the better and now I'm going
