Stationed in Germany While CR1 Visa is in the NVC Stage

Hi everyone, I have a little problem with my CR1 visa.

My husband is currently in the states at tech school, and we just found out we will be stationed in Germany once he graduates (PCS should happen around mid to late July). He filed an I130 on my behalf back in September and NVC received it from USCIS California Service Center yesterday (21 April). Looking at the processing times, he will most likely already be in Europe by the time I have my interview and stuff, and that's what I'm confused about; if we will be living in Europe for anywhere between 3-5 years, should I still go ahead and finish up the process and (hopefully) get my green card or will they not approve it since I won't even be going to the states right now?

I hope this wasn't too confusing and any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should call uscis, there won't be problem to have it transferred to embassy in Frankfurt and American military base is considered as us soil so if military dependent are in Europe with their spouse it doesn't count like they are outside. But it's best to call uscis and ask if you have to go in USA to activate your visa and receive green card but I hope not. I hope you enjoy Germany, I hope my husband will get stationed in Europe again so we can go back for few years.

No, I didn't know I qualified to be expedited...

Your husband will be pcs-ing so he can try and request for an expedite. That way you will be able to have your interview sooner, while he is still in the US.

He can call or email nvc, explaining the reason for the request at NVCexpedite@state.gov

He could also attach a copy of his orders if available.. Make sure he includes the beneficiary and petitioner's name and date of birth, and uscis receipt number or nvc case number.

Make him call the military help line! He called and our case was expedited, no proofs needed.

I dont think there is a military help line for NVC..? They are already done with USCIS stage and their case is with NVC so calling uscis military help line wouldnt be of any help.

My husband just talked to them and apparently there's nothing they could do when it comes to expediting until our case is in their system. I'm guessing when it gets put in their system, we get our case number? Is it still worth trying to expedite once we have our case number or no?

Your case has reached nvc, right? You can give it another shot, send an email this time. When we requested for an expedite, we didnt bother calling them coz i knew they wouldnt do anything. We didnt even have a case number yet when we requested the expedite, we just used our uscis receipt #.

Yeah it got to NVC on April 21st. We're in the same boat right now, only have the USCIS case nr, nothing else. But we'll give it another shot with the email, thanks!

We finally got our expedite approved and the visa package is on its way to the local embassy. Now I have another question though - the address to where they should send the social security card, can that be an APO address?
