Hello!

I've read and read and I think we couldn't have filed a better visa packet; got NOA1 December 24th and are waiting on NOA2. If some experienced person would be so kind as to take a bit of time no walk me through their experience I would be very grateful. I THINK I get it all, but I also find it so damn confusing that I'm constantly worried I'm not going in the right order or messing something up. I think the post-visa granting time scares me the most-what the hell do we do once it's all done and over with?! I'm in NY and my fiancées in England and I just wanna get him over here for good!

Any help, advice, and decoding of government instructions would be much appreciated! ?? ❤️ ??

Here is the VJ K-1 flowchart with all the steps.

After you get the visa, he comes to the US and you marry within 90 days. Then it is important to know that you will have to file an application for his permanent residence, which is $1070. You can't live in the US on a K-1, it only gives you 90 days. You must apply to become a permanent resident, based on your marriage within the 90 days.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

There is a good guide pinned to the top of the UK forum page, read that.

Once he is in the US (well before really) go to the forum on applying for AOS from family based visas which will tell you what to do once he is in the US.

Seems to be one of the biggest things people don't know about is the $1070. Glad I'll have all mine saved up on my April 24th check.

Welcome to the forum.

An abbreviated overview of events for the K-1 Fiance(e) visa program is described in Processing Information, on page 7 of the Form I-129F instructions:

http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf

Basic internet research of the mentioned forms (I-485, I-751) will quickly yield more useful information about the process.

Then, of course, the VJ Guides section, including the K-1 Flowchart, and the various step-by-step K-1/AOS/ROC Visa Guides do a good job of filling-in the blanks:

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
