How is Vermont so much faster?

They seem to process more app's than Neb yet they are twice as fast getting them out... what's the deal? And I'm about ready to send in the I-129F but live in Missouri. Can I send to Vermont instead or will they just reject it and tell me to send it to Nebraska?

Our Visa Journey

07/29/07 ---- Mailed I-129F

08/25/07 --- Check finally cashed (8/27 I should be able to see the R number on the back).

08/27/07 --- NOA1 Arrives from CSC and I create my account profile on the USCIS.Gov web-site (the clock starts)!!!

02/05/08 --- After 191 days NOA2 (Approval) comes at last!!!!

2/14/08 --- NVC sends letter saying that it's on the way to the US Embassy in Bangkok

2/25/08 --- She receives Packet 3 from the Embassy

3/29/08 --- She receives Packet 4 with interview date (July 11th).

3/30/08 --- I e-mail the Embassy asking to make the date earlier because I've already got our tickets for June 13th!!!

5/6/08 --- No help from the Embassy. Rebooked tickets and vacation till September.

5/21/08 --- Embassy calls her and moves interview to May 27th!!!!! You have got to be kidding me!!!

9/21/08 --- POE San Francisco!!!!

12/8/08 --- Married!!!!

12/15/08 --- Mail AOS + AP + EAD package to Chicago

12/28/08 --- Come back from vacation and find AOS/AP/EAD NOA 1 and Bio App notices in the mailbox!!!

1/13/09 --- Bio Appt

4/22/09 --- AOS Interview "APPROVED"!!!

3/04/2011 --- OUR BABY IS BORN... We have a son!!!!!

3/10/2011 --- Mail I-751 application to lift conditions on residency

3/12/2011 --- I-751 Package received by CSC

3/14/2011 --- NOA 1

3/21/2011 --- NOA 2 (Biometrics Appt 4/18/2011)

5/27/2011 --- ROC Approved. 10 Year Green Card arrived 6/04/2011

Vermont apparently is a better-run service center and is much more efficient. They also handle fewer petitions.

You cannot choose where to send. You send based on where you live, and BTW, all Nebraska and Texas petitions are forwarded to California automatically for processing.

Waiver approved after 10 months. Did NOT use a lawyer

I figured as much...

I'm also a bit confused by the following from the "guide" for K1 on this site:

QUOTE

4. Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years. This should be a single typed page regarding question 18 of the I-129F. Make sure to sign and date it.

5. Original statements (from both the US Citizen and foreign fiance) certifying an intent to marry within 90 days of entering the US on a valid K-1. (see example)

6. Proof of having met in past two years. (click here for examples)

What is the difference between number 4 and number 6?

I seem to remember seeing something about evidence that you are actually engaged... how does one prove that??

Question 4 is asking for a written explanation of how, when, where you met within the last 2 years.

Question 6 is asking for documents which prove you have met within the last 2 years, such as airline tickets, boarding passes, hotel reservations, etc.

What is the difference between number 4 and number 6?

I seem to remember seeing something about evidence that you are actually engaged... how does one prove that??

#4 is a brief signed statement describing how you met.

# 6 is evidence supporting #4. Photos, travel documents, etc.... demonstrating proof of meeting.

You know - northerners are a bit quicker :lol:

The Declaration is a written statement describing how you met, etc. The Proof of having met can be your boarding passes, visa stamps, pictures, proof of working abroad (if applicable), hotel receipts, e-mails where trips are mentioned, etc.

The letter of intent is a basic letter stating that you will marry your fiance and s/he will marry you. There need to be original signatures and it should be addressed to Nebraska (who upon receipt will immediately forward it to California).

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

Oh I get it... Tell them then prove it.

Got bunches of pic's of us together now and some with my soon to be in-laws!!! OMG ;-) I sure wish pops was smiling though. Lek tells me he is but it sure looks like a grimace to me.

(5) Simply the fact that you and your fiancee write a letter of intent, here on VJ is a good form letter to your for this purpose.
