Hello Vj's

I just got my social security card and tried to use the number to create account on social security office website but it keep showing Invalid information and number, and also tried to open bank account online and shows same thing .. what dose it mean ? and do i have to call them or go there to verify my ss number ?

SSA went to giving out randomized SSN in the past year. For that reason some banks are not letting those numbers through. I'd go to a physical bank branch or call them up to fix this issue.

Why would you want to make an account on the SS office website? You have never worked in the US and cannot get any SS retirement benefits.

ok .. but why the number dose not work ? is it normal thing ?

Probably because it is so new and has no work history attached to it. I promise you it is a valid SSN :)

Edit: For the bank, your SSN is also new and it cannot find any other information on it, so you might need to open up an account in person and show the card.

A SSN is NOT a national ID and is not automatically connected to the various systems that piggy back off of it. Banks and credit and things use the number simply because it is guaranteed to be a unique number. There is no other reason for them needing it.
